I don't know if the recent troubles that R2I had recently is related or not, but I noticed that my email account was sending out spam emails posing as me. I searched it out, and the IP address was Iran! So, if anyone has received strange emails from a yahoo account, don't open it! It wasn't me!

RRK, OP - I have seen this several times, and the solution is to close out the email account. Spam emails will be sent - to everyone in your address book, as though the email is originating from you, with a URL pointing to some pharmacy selling Viagra etc.

In my case I was able to see the sent spam in my Sent folder. The solution was to change the password that was very simple and easy to guess, with a strong one. (at least 7 characters with a combination of upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers and possibly some special characters like @, $ etc)

Hi OP

Once when I was in the US [last year] I logged into my gmail account and got a message suggesting that I changed my password as they observed that there was a login to my account from an IP address in Phillippines [GMAIL even keeps track that my normal access has been from IP address in India and the US]. So I changed my password and this has not recurred since then. I have a pretty strong password so I am not sure how my email account was hacked.

So I suggest you change your password and if this recurs even after that then check your desktop/laptop for adware/malware. Sometimes such software sends out emails on your behalf based on the persons in your address book.

Regards

Venkat

If it recently happened,.... run PC in the safe mode and restore with the old dated restore points and that will take care.

If not, run cleaning spyware n' adaware pacakges like spybot s and d, Advanced systen care, super antispyware and adaware lavasoft,... etc. ( all are free on net go to download.com which is a reliable Cnet site )

Do windows updates too.

If still not working,... change the IP address,.. if you dunno how to,... lemme know.
