We applied for child interview waiver for b1/b2 visa for my son coz VFS call center told me that children under 7 need not appear for the interview and so I can apply for my sons visa under that. I already have a valid b1/b2 visa. I went to VFS center and submitted the hdfc fee receipt, the barcode , sons passport and my visa copy. They did not ask for any more documentation and said that if the consulate asks for more documents then we will let know. Its been the 3rd day from the day I submitted the documents at VFS. When I track the passport on the VFS site, it says "passport under process at US embassy/consulate"
How do I know if the visa has been approved or rejected in case of a child interview waiver case? Its been 3 days and nobody has contacted me regarding additional documentation required. And the passport is still with the US consulate. I had called VFS and they say the same thing as on the site. Does this status message mean that they would eventually grant the visa. Also how long would it take in case of child interview waiver?
Thanks,

dbs,
Do you or you know anybody who have applied through this method? If you have, then how long did it take in your case/friends case?
Thanks

I have not applied for myself or for any one else.
My sister had applied for a visitor visa via VFS. She missed her flight because it did not arrive in time. She got it in about 2 weeks. No explanations provided.

dbs, Your sister applied through IWP?
Now I'm really nervous... Is there anything I can do to expedite the process if it does not arrive in 2 weeks, like email the consulate or change from IWP to personal interview?

dbs, anyidea if she submitted any cover letter and supporting docs like affidavit of support and sponsorship letter at the beginning itself to VFS?
I had emailed MurthyIndia and they mailed back saying that for them renewal of visa through IWP took 2 weeks to 6 weeks... After 2 weeks of document submission they were called for finger printing and some were asked to submit additional documents by issuing a 221g and after submitting the documents the processing took 4 - 6 weeks depending on the case. I dont have that much of time. We are planning to go there for a wedding and at worst case need to be there atleast 2-3 days before the wedding, atleast for the rehersals coz my son is the ring bearer. If the visa does not come before the wedding then there is no point..
If I had known it would take a long time through IWP, then I would have opted for personal interview instead..
