Planning a 3 day stopover in Dubai during a trip to India this spring.
Not sure which part of the city to stay. I read about the ease of using metro and availability of cheap taxis (with the horrendous traffic). Don't want to be in stuck in traffic.
Not looking for the beach or the Atlantis experience.
Tentative plan is visit the creek, souks, evening desert safari one day and gawk at some of the ridiculous structures like Burj Tower, Dubai Mall/Fountain and maybe take a boat ride to see the Palm Island on the other 2 days. (Is there anything else that one would recommend)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/pointers.
Where to stay in Dubai for a brief 3 day stopover.

Are you a HOTEL guy or apartment guy ( meaning do you like the idea of airbnb.com)
if yes, then recommend looking for The Greens area, taxis are cheap and plenty (12dh minimum). Traffic is HORRIBLE if u drive away from AIRPORT (twrds Abu Dhabi) in AM and reverse in PM. otherwise u r cool.
Many people like camping in the Marina side of Dubai.. tram+ metro..
flashy place.
or direct connection to Metro if u stay at the Kempenski in Mall of Emirates.
Metro is great! Souks etc very accesible by metro+ taxi
where in america can u get a ride for 3$!!!!
