R2I Finance - 401k withdraw or keep

1. At this point I have an IRA account and haven't yet done a rollover.

2. My plan is to roll over the 401K into my traditional IRA account after I finalize my job plans

3. After reaching India work out a plan to withdraw from my IRA.

Hyderabad School/Home question

I'm planning to move to Hyderabad at the end of the year. Most likely my workplace is Madhapur. My son who is 2 now will start school next year. I'm thinking of DAV right now. Any suggestions for good locality to settle down. I don't mind commuting to work abs am looking at only traditional Indian ...

R2I Finance - 401k withdraw or keep

Thanks for the guidance. I'll setup an IRA earlier then. I'll also find out about HR process. Still not sure if/how internal transfer works

R2I Finance - 401k withdraw or keep

Thanks. I read a bunch of threads and is still a bit fuzzy.

Seems like the best approach is roll over into IRA and withdraw a bit each year to avoid US taxes.

R2I Finance - 401k withdraw or keep

After much deliberation our family has decided to return to India this year. I'm working with my employer on an internal transfer to India. I'm not a US citizen(on H1 now) and have no plans of returning to US. What should I do with 401k money - about $120k. I don't need it immediately. I understand ...

401(k) experience

I am on H1-B, have about 50K in my 401k and am trying to figure out the best way to move it to India. Easy approach seems to be to get everything before I leave -> end up paying a lot of taxes/penalty etc but nothing to worry after R2I. Alternative is to rollover into IRA and withdraw after 5 years ...

5+ yrs in the US, thinking of leaving early next year. Need your inputs.

[QUOTE=guppa1970;478665]My personal experiences after returning from US after 20 years is not something that I like. Please stay back in US. All plans for your personal life will happen even if you are in US. India is not a place to be if you want to lead a moral and an honest life. You can always ...

I am 26, single male, and planning to return back within a year and was looking for diaries from people who have been in a similar situation.

If you guys know stories of younger returnees from family or work, please post here.

5+ yrs in the US, thinking of leaving early next year. Need your inputs.

[QUOTE=back2desh;476895]Already your thinking is getting more complicated with more options... You have quite a decent savings for this age ($140K in 401(k)), most of us (including myself) who came in quite earlier lost lot of money on our savings (401(k)) + the money invested on House, by that time ...
