thanks again. let's assume i made 80k in india and 10k in capital gains in US. now india deducted close to 30% of my taxes for 80k. when i file in US and add 10k, given i have already paid 30% on 80k, there is no additional tax even by adding the 10k. hence no deduction per say and my actual paid ...

thanks a lot of your response. for my spouse if she had no other income .. does she still pay 20% in india or since she had no income .. she might get away since she did not fall in the income category for greater than 10% taxes as an example?

all - one of my tax inefficient funds (i have gotten rid of it now) declared a capital gain distribution this year. I am a ROR living in India (US citizen). Does India tax this or given this is long term capital gain, this is exempt from taxes? would appreciate a response.
