Eye Laser Surgery : Health
Try Manipal hospital in Bangalore. Dr. Manoj is good. Avoid the other one. If you are into sports and like to not have to deal with glasses(scratching etc), Lasik might be good for any age! Cost was 25k for both eyes. You might end up with reading glasses when you are over 40...but it still ...

Life in US v/s India
[quote=rajram123;75070] Please remember that many people who R2I, given a choice to go back in time and change their decision, would never return to India. They force themselves into adjusting to Indian conditions because they dont want to look stupid by returning back as soon as they R2I. Think ...

Grading your India Return
[quote=csvirus;72531]Sometimes it may be sheer inertia to effect changes like this several times over, very understandably. Quite likely that a change such as this might knock the steam out of people. BTW, just out of curiosity, how can quality of life be good if things are unclean? Unclean air ...

MT: Tax for US Citizen living in India
I haven't found this discussion inspite of looking around here and also googling in general! Aside for NRI/RNOR/ROR etc, if an USC relocates to India and has been living there for say, 3yrs or more, does he have to file taxes in India based on his global income(including investments overseas)? I ...

1. Number of years after R2I: 3-1/2 yrs 2. Satisfaction level (scale of 1 - 10), 10 being max satisfied: 8, started with a 4 :emwink: 3. Single most disturbing issue after R2I: traffic, pollution & cleanliness. Bureaucracy has thankfully been not much or got delegated:emsmile: 4. Single most ...

Not sure about this though! Don't underestimate these guys. They are well networked and understand what the rates are and quote you on the higher-end! In some ways, its no different then the dance we do at work in recruiting people... [quote=VWbuggy78;56059] In my experience, hire people you can ...

Car Driver experiences
Completely agree. I think expecting him to work long hours occasionally is ok but not every day. The deal I have with my driver is 10hrs/day, 6days a week. But most days he comes to my office at noon(I drive to office early morn) and gets off work by 7:30-8:00pm. Sometimes, I keep him for 11-12hrs ...

I agree, 2 months is too short. I would just give a small token bonus(<Rs 1000) instead. I have had the same driver for almost a 1-1/2 yrs. 6months after he started, he asked for a 5K loan to be paid off at 500/month. I gave him 3k(never give the amount he asked!) and told him I don't generally ...
