Update:
DS was able to change branch to Compuer Science in IIT-Madras.
He had perfect 10 (S-grade as they call in IIT-M) in 1st sem, thus could have chosen any branch. 2nd sem starts on Jan 16th.

Wait for couple of days.. all systems are separate and they sync up data once a day ( or week). It will show as failed in Portal after couple of days.

That's what we did for last 2-3 months.... Some of discussion can happen only after you have IIT results/rank in hand. This period was more stressful than the preceding 2 years!.
