Is that a reliable bank? Co-operative/mercantile word starts ringing bells in my head - may be that is how the image has been with some banks in north india.

I thought banks no longer can penalise for premature withdrawal of deposits but correct me in my understanding that if I put money for 9.75 for 10 years and withdraw after 3 years bank give me interest at the prevailing rate for 3 years at the time of booking the FD.

What about state bank of bikaner which offers 9.75 for 10 years.
It makes sense to lock the rate to 9.75 while you can always break it if the interest rate increases widely.
