Wish you had done that?

Post by moreqa »

This question is from a person who is planning to R2I in a couple of years, to those
a) who have R2Ied, or
b) who are planning to R2I pretty soon,

I am wondering what I should be doing Now and during these couple of years (apart from reading this just-so-life-saving forum) before I R2I, for having a better R2I life for me and others.

Just for info, I am USC/OCI.
After r2i I wish to work part time (either for Indian employer or hook up contracting with some US employer), and carry other interests rest of the time.

So my question is:

Do you wish you had done some things in your pre-R2I years given
you know what you know now? You wish you had done some specific preparations/planning/research, etc?

1. Firmly believing that people can live happily in India as well. Just US big shops/supermarket/healthcare is not the only thing that can save us from dying.
2. Firm decision. Not only from you, your wife and children if you have.
3. House/flat. If you can afford buy one more so that you can rent it.
4. Finalising schools if you have children. List couple or few schools, you can get into one atleast.
5. Job.

If your 1st and 2nd point is pukka then this much preparation is good enough. Just pack and go. You can be successful.

After R2i ing if you compare India Vs US the you will ask same questions about R2A.:emsmilep:

Here is a materialistic one.

I wish I had bought a dryer there and had it shipped here.

Getting sick of seeing clothes drying in the balcony perpetually...
Dreading the rainy season.................

Run, don't walk, to the neighbourhood appliance store and get the dryer that IFB makes. Costs INR 16000 or so.
