Am currently finishing up reading "A Random Walk Down Wall Street"
http://www.amazon.com/Random-Walk-Down-Wall-Street/dp/0393325350
Originally published back in 70's and has been revised quite a few times since then, it goes through investment ideologies and perspective of factors that shaped the markets over time. Overall a good read.

haari_mirch, I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and also listened to the tapes of Koyosaki. He is motivating, but since my interest was not in real estate in US, the motivation fizzled out soon.

I would still suggest reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad (and other financial/RE book out there), it is not limited to US RE only. The main thing I learnt from this book is the importance of being financially free..that too ASAP, not be part of rat race.
Once you're pumped up, you can keep learning and putting things into practice.
You can apply motivation, knowledge anywhere..bottomline is keep learning.
For example, this is R2I site and talks about AAP for R2I but you can very well apply the fundamentals that you learnt here to your portfolio regardless which part of the world you're in.
