Dish contract is for 2yrs. You can get with no contract by paying $100 upfront for installation and then cancel anytime.

Whats wrong with watchindia.tv? They have a set top box as well which should work fine.

My inlaws are visiting and I want to set up tamil channels on TV. I want something they can watch directly on TV instead of browsing online.

The catch being that Sun TV is mandatory.
So Comcast and Direct TV is not an option here (Bellevue, Washington )
Dish TV is an option but I don't want to get into a year long contract ( and give up my tiny balcony to the dish) unless I have too.

Any idea ? Maybe something similar to http://watchindia.tv ?

I used them for one month. I had to cancel it as nobody had the time to watch. I sent an email to their contact id and somebody replied back that they would cancel the subscription the same month and i won't be charged from the next month. But they did charge me the next month. I sent an email back but nobody would respond. I called my CC company and disputed the transaction. I had to get replacement CCs too.
I've decided to stay away from these online vendors (except for willow.tv or tvnsports.com).

Have been using their set-top box service for a few months now. Had some problems initially with the quality / speed etc but now things seem to be going smoothly (dont watch much myself but parents watch during day time). You get a lot of channels for ~$15 + the initial investment in set-top box. They also have some good packages for Cricket soemtimes.

I've been watching Channel live for some months now and it seems good. Watched first on laptop and then bought the setup box for ~$160 to watch directly on the TV. It works pretty well even with high-def.
I heard recently that setup boxes take about a month to arrive
