Sharing information on Global Public School, Kochi

I am sharing some information I received from Global Public School, Kochi. Their overall fees seem to be lower than Choice School. See the attachment for fees details.

Registration Fees: Rs 5000
Admission Fees: Rs 25,000
Caution Deposit (refundable): Rs 10,000
Security Deposit (Refundable with interest): Rs 40,000
Annual Fees: Rs 2500
Tution Fees (3 terms per year): between Rs 7300 and Rs 9735 for kinder garten to higher secondary
(Tution fees is around the same in Choice school, but you have to pay 4 terms !)

A/c School bus: between Rs 1200 and Rs 2500 depending on distance.

Do you know if they have French as a second language and also do they take admission during middle of the school year?

They do offer french but if I remember correctly that is instead of Hindi or Malayalam. We stopped by Choice, Tok-H and one other public school in Maradu and if I remember correctly they all offer French. Now on to the admission I got the feeling they are willing to help you out and if you help them out a little all the better..if you know what I mean. So it shouldnt be hard. Also try to stay in touch ahead of time with the school administration so that that you can sort of book the seat in advance.

As an intro we are from NY and looking to relocate to near Kochi in 2012. Idea is to start my oldest in 1st grade there. We are planning to get him admitted in the beginning.

This is very useful info for us. We have r2ied to Chennai this year; planning to r2k in 2011. I am in Kerala this week trying to look at schools in Thrissur and Aluva and surroundings.

Experienced r2kers, please keep posting on any valuable information like this. Couple of years back I got very good review from Sumachechi about Choice school. I am yet to visit the school, may this week friday. I will visit GPS also.

Heard that LKG admission for Vidyodaya is already over. Any opinion - Is there any way we can still be considered? Heard that class sizes are 25-30 in this school also. We are primarily looking for smaller class sizes, which we could not find at all in Thrissur!

Our plan is to finalize a school and then buy flat/villa nearby. We always believe in less commuting for all.

I am planning to relocate back to India. My kids are at the age of 10 and 8. And they don't know Malayalam or Hindi. How can I do the transition of schools from USA to India? Is there any special coaching available at this school for these kids? Any help will be appreciated.
