What are the places to visit around London......specially for young kids (3-4 years) and family?

Lots of places:
Buckingham palace - Changing of Guard
London eye
Boat tour from Westmister to Tower bridge (and beyond to Greenwich Meridian) - also Tower of London
national gallery
windsor castle

You can also visit the parks (hyde park, regent park, green park) in London. Especially in Spring and summer they are very beauitful.

If you looking for an indoor entertainment ( in tune with the nasty weather) you can try things like - museums (eg. Madam Tussades) Ice skating rinks, topsy turvy (for children), snakes and ladders (for children), whacky warehouse et.

There are zoos, animal farms, amusement parks (Chessington, THorpe park)

Outside London, if you want to drive a couple of hours there places like Bath,Oxford, Cambridge,Stratford.

Take the bus tour - in spring/summer you can ride on the open top and hop-on hop-off at your places of interest. We did that once and part of the bus tour took care of kids' nap time!

If you are the walking kind - you can walk all the way from Buckingham palace to London Eye and all places in between.

All places mentioned above are nice -

Westminster Abby might not be especially interesting to kids, but there is so much history crammed into every square inch there - that was the highlight of our visit to London.

Legoland is a must see for family with kids. The adults can enjoy equally over there

Thanks HYD. I just checked it opens on 17th March this year. I would certainly go there.

If i am not mistaken there is also a scheme where u pay for ur travel card for the day and see as many places as u want with jump the queue and it can be bought for a day or 6days, but make sure you are familiar with the underground map and the buses. Spent most of the day at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park. Both my kids enjoyed thoroughly. I would strongly recommend the place.
