I took a Sony CD/MP3/AM-FM stereo to B'lore from here. The FM radio does not receive the signals of one of the most popular station in B'lore.

My folks were told by the Sony, that it had something to do w/ the way the radio's were made for the US vs the Indian (Asian) mkts?!?

I bought one for $99 from circuit city couple of years ago. My BIL had a mechanic install it in his car, and it worked fine.

abuSibu : Do you know if the FM station works ? As there are now so many good FM station in India and if the CD/FM player cant receive the FM station there then it is not worth.

As per the size of the player does it exactly fit in the Indian Car dash boards oor do we have to be creative to fit it ?

The car stereo systems work in India, including FM ( Its not like the FM is NTSC/PAL for it not to work) I have taken 3 of them and all of them work just fine, including the size.

Take it to JC road, you will be surprised by 2 things. One is they can repair any thing and every thing and they will fit it easily.
second is chaos out there.

I am sure such streets exists in almost every major city.

The receiver receives FM stations. As far exact fit, I don't know if installer made any tweaks, but the installed stereo had no unusual look/feel.

Rings a bell...

there is someting called an "FM step" (the increment in the MHZ) and it slightly different between asia and america.

I noticed this is an AM/FM walkman my folks wanted and also in my MP3 players FM reception in india.

pala69,
Agree with sundar, the FM step is different, FM reception will not be very good. CD will work. FM you may get only a subset of the stations, and that too, with some static. Suggest buy the player from india, given that there is good content on FM these days.
