I am trying to help a friend of a friend . He is an expat (non-Indian) and is moving to Bangalore in a Director level position. Role is to mentor other director's in the organization . The assignment is for two years.
Can anyone in the know provide input on what he should watch out for in general, remuneration packages, etc ? Any kind of information is appreciated.
thanks

I know of an expat who came here (Bangalore) on a temporary basis, his salary during this time was 15% higher than what he was being paid in the U.S. Plus he was given free accomodation, first class airfare, free transportation in the city. I think he even got the company to pay for his wife's visit here for 3 weeks during his stay here.

Based on the above package, I'm tempted to ask if others could apply...what industry are we talking about? what kind of experience-specialised knowledge is required? So, there are a lot of factors involved...

The domain is broadband and mobile service software provider. They needed to set up their shop here in India and build partnerships with companies. The expat was here along with a team to do a feasibility study and come up with reccomendations of what model will work for them.

No doubt...with the kind mobile service boom India has witnessed in the last few years - not to mention the knowledge and experience the individual might have possessed working in a mature market like here.
My best wishes to you and your friend.
