Baby boy related question

Post by Swarna »

Hi

I am aware that circumcision is common among boys in USA. Being a Hindu, we don't circumcize in India. Since we plan to LIA, I am in a dilemma. I read from cleanliness point of view circumcision is adviced.

What's the usual norm among desis here?

Thank you
Swarna

There are recent studies that show that circumcision reduces the chance of transmission of HIV. This may not apply to a baby born now since by then there may be a HIV vaccine already.

The medical science has gone back and forth regarding the benefits for a few yrs now. And I suspect it will be inconclusive for many years to come as the researches continue to learn.

Hygeine is an issue only if one doesn't know how to wash themselves... This is true w/ any body part and using that as an argument is a non-issue IMO.

If I'm not mistaken circumcision is offered as a std. option post-partum to all parents (for their male infants) in the US?

However, I don't think they "sell the idea" like they used to earlier...

It is very common in America, but not really in Europe. Desi families follow their custom, and the hospitals are aware of that. There should be no compulson or discussion, just another column to fill up during delivery weather you want that or not.

Circumcision might help in the long run preventing any issue with urination blockages by additional growth of foreskin. For some people foreskin grows later during teenages needing a circumcision at that age which is a full fledged medical operation.

My personal opinion would be to go with circumcision:
- From what I know sexual performance would be better with a circumcised penis
- long term infections can be prevented
- Prevent embarrassment in American gyms or locker rooms. In my gym, we saw most males having circumcised organs.

If you are LIA then go for it since there are the benefits mentioned above. I wonder why we hindus don't this included in our religion while the other religions have it.
On a serious note during riots in India they check this to identify the religion of a person. so I think r2i person should not have it.

Lack of foreskin desensitizes the organ and results in you lasting longer. But, the degree of pleasure for the male is diminished because of the lack of sensitivity.

I wouldn't do it.

My Vote is against.

HIV - Keep your morals high and this shouldn't be any problems.
Infections - Keep yourself clean and problem is automatically taken care of.

Medine has been debating this endlessly and several studies exhibit conflicting results. If needed medically then it could be done at later stage also.
