b2b;15858This week I list some of the all time favourites of mine....hope some of the members also share my choice....
4. Wo jab yaad aaye, bahot yaad aaye
Gama-ye-jindagee ke, andhere mein hum hain
Chiraaga-ye-mohabbat jalaaye, buzaaye
An old song.....from 60s....Film Parasmani.....Rafi and Lata and music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal (their first released movie)....movie I bet no one remembers but the songs were superhit specially the above and Hasta Hua Nurani Chehara.
quote]
I very well remember this movie. This movie was shown in our chawl some time in 80s. One unique thing about this movie was half of it was in B & W and half in eastmancolor ( spellcheck?)
Those days I had a crush on a girl ( After watching brokeback mountain it becomes necessary to mention GIRL :) ) in my class and even today when I hear another song from the SAME movie, it gives me goose bumps. Not sure why am still getting goose bumps for these days I firmly believe, LOVE is all crap, love is nothing but physical attraction....
Not sure b2b , if you remember this song ...
ROSHAN TUMHI SE DUNIYA
RAUNAT TUMHI JAHANKI
PHOOLON MEIN PAL NE WALI ........
SALAMT RAHO~~~~~

What is love?
Love - is true love - whenever it happens - before marriage, after marriage, in-between marriages, between man-woman, woman-woman, man-man etc.
man-animal, animal-man ?
What about inanimate objects ?
What about intangible objects ?
Again sorry for the digression but couldn't resist.
I have too many favorite songs and to pick only one is a crime
Floral duet : Delibes
Holiday : Scorpions
Who wants to live forever : Queen
Bohemian Rhapsody : Queen
Holding back the tears : Simply Red
Fur Elise : Beethoven
Bolero : Ravel
Shape of my heart : Sting
Hai yeh duniya kaunsi aye dil mujhe kya ho gaya - Hemant Kumar

Really in most of the cases.
Let us assume there are three pairs.
1) First pair: Beautiful woman with all the physical assets and not so handsome man. In this case the man will treat the lady like a Goddess and will always be ready to go out of the way to make his beautiful woman pleased. Now say all of a sudden this woman loses her charm bcos of some accident or old age or after a few years of marriage, children etc. Do you think the same man will love her in the same way like he did before?
( I read about a true story somewhere. One beautiful nurse was madly in love with a handsome guy. They both were in love and soon going to get married. But then the woman gets raped by a ward boy and is traumatized. She goes in coma. Her handsome guy comes and visits her in the hospital every day for the first year, once a week for second year , once a month for third year, once a qrtr for fourth year and at the end of fifth year kisses her good bye to get married to some third person?? where did the love disappear after 5 years?)
2) Second pair: Handsome man with all the physical assets and not so beautiful woman with hardly any physical assets. In this case the woman will go out of her way to do anything for her man and will always try to please him. Will she do the same after her man loses her charm?
3) Third pair: Beautiful woman and a handsome man OR say both are average or say both are ugly. Here neither of them will be on their knees for their partner. Here both of them will hardly ever go out of the way for each other or they will always go out of the way for each other unless one of them loses his charm in the eyes of other :).
In all the above cases along with beauty or handsomeness add some leverage of MOOLAH/POWER too.
Now tell me where is love? Deep down in your heart isn?t it some kind of selfish motive in the name of lust, greed, anger, power etc working under the cover of love?
What is your definition of love?
Fountainhead is one book by ( Ayn Rand, spell check?) which defines love very well :)
Say am madly in love with a girl. Say in order to achieve her in life, I need to do something big,
KAR KHUD HI KO BULLUND ITNA
KE HAR TAQDIR SE PEHLE
KHUDA KHUD BANDHE SE PUCHE
BATA TERI MARZI HAI KYA !
And say after raising myself to that level , even if the girl is after me now, isn;t it like the girl is being selfish now? Bcos she didn;t love me , she is loving my high level ( In some form like lust , greed , power etc).
Whats the big deal even if you achieve the girl now?
---------------------------------------
Movie: Aashiqui
Tuuuuuuuuuuu~~~~~~~~~
Meri zindagi hai
Tuuuuuuuuuuu~~~~~~~~~~
meri bandagi hai
Tuhi pyar tuhi chaahat , tuhi aashiqui hai
Har zakhm dil ka tujhe
dil se duva de
khushiyan tujhe gam saare
mujko khuda de
Tujko bhula na paaya
meri bebasi hai ....Tuuuuuuuuu~~~~~~~

What is love? -- Turns out that it's a question (mark) drawn on a cheek w/ lipstick... YouTube - What is love?
I wouldn't watch it unless I have some time to kill and nothing else to do. There, you've been forewarned!

According to me, love is a multibillion dollar industry that runs bollywood. I enjoy love songs but if you ask about reality, sorry, I have to agree with soomdy #6.

I have seen Indian movies where hero (a) cuts his tongue, (b)walks naked in street, (c) kills himself etc, for love. There is only one love and his life is dedicated to her only. I have seen a lot of guys in real life also, at least during the college days. But, in the western world folks change mates just like changing subjects every semester. How does love play out in all these relationships? How is the psyche different?
While we are trying to define love, in addition to what soomdy #6 said, I want to add that love has to be eternal in India and periodic in US. Am I right?
In some cultures, a guy can marry n wives but a woman can have only one husband. In those cultures how will love be defined?

What is love?
Love - a neurological condition that starts with the onset of hormonal secretions, visual and other sensory inputs initiating ongoing feedback loops of action and serotnin and dopamine and other neurotransmitters secretions conditioned by upbringing.
Here with a Loaf of Bread beneath the Bough,
A Flask of Wine, a Book of Verse - and Thou
Beside me singing in the Wilderness
- And Wilderness is Paradise enow.
Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.

Have you ever realized, noticed, observed, felt the caring attitude to wards one's kids( especially when they are kids) that is true love. An unconditional love in which you want to only give without any expectation or something in return, in which you take a pride in giving, the more you give the happier you become.

That is not love but exploitation and in some cases mutual exploitation - it is a contactual situation. Marriage and love are not necessarily corelated.

Somebody quoted Ayn Rand here. So, I am bringing up her again. According to her there is nothing like "give without any expectation or something in return". She says only losers indulge in this. She wants a meaningful and equal exchange in any transaction.
Let us not bring kids, iinfants, animals (pets) and toys here. Then it becomes muddled. First, let us take only adult human beings as the scope and try to define what love is. And as far as caring towards kids is concerned, it is not contested. The vast majority of the human race will agree.
