One of our relative is visiting USA for 3 months.
She is US citizen, but R2Id in India for past 10 years.
She is visiting USA. Needs short term medical health insurance.
Checked with visitor insurances IMG and Patriot, Diplomat and other nri sites. Those are for
non-US citizen traveling to USA (US coverage)
or
US citizen travelling abroad (excluding US coverage)
Nowhere my relative fits in requirements. Regular Bluecross etc also don't offer any help.
SO there is no short term health insurance for US citizen in USA!!!
Any suggestions please..

Assurant Health provides short-term insurance and should work.

MeraNaseebR2I;33171She should talk to the Social Security office in the city you live in and find out healthcare options.
If she is over 65 and a US citizen, she can avail Federal Medicare or State Medicaid. These are either FREE (depending on state) or available at a very nominal charge.
Good Luck![/quote]
Not so fast!
Medicare insurance has enrollment periods, once a year - and if you miss that you have wait until the next year.
Medicaid has asset based rules, and if your relative has a home in India that is counted (but not if you have a home in the US), and the total of all assets for the person cannot exceed $2500 (or $2000, one of the two).

You can look at Liaison International, available for instant purchase at [ deleted by admin - CoC Violation]
She is eligible for purchase that insurance.
As long as the US citizen is staying outside US and visiting USA for 6 months or less, they can purchase that insurance.

NO Medical insurance for US citizen visiting USA??
Here's what I tried
1. Tried buying overseas medical insurance in India. But that is only for non-US citizen visiting US. For US-citizen they say I need to take home country insurance.
2. Tried few visitor insurance website, but they only offer non-US citizen visiting US or US citizen visiting outside US.
3. Couple of websites provide insurance for US citizen within US, but those require adult US citizen applicant, i.e. they don't have child only policy.
In the number 2 above, I could apply for a family policy but they only ask for citizenship of primary applicant that is me. So I should select non-US citizen. They don't ask citizenship of child. I could go ahead and take that, but during claim they can easily reject it based on US-citizenship.
Not sure what to do. I am travelling in 2 days.

On that site, do I take coverage for just kids or do I take a family plan and have kids as dependent ?
Actually I think it doesn't have family plan. So I need to take 4 different insurance. Is that correct ?
