My R2I (Hyderabad) Diary - Nattusbs

Post by Nattusbs »

Hi all:

I was thinking along the same lines of writing a chronological diary of events and then saw 2 others have done that too!

I am leaving this Thursday night via Singapore taking my German Shepard to Hyderabad. The house will hopefully go on the market in my absence - my realtor will do that. The housing market is slow, no doubt about that. It is better to sell now and invest the proceeds. I will be back on July 3rd after spending a few days in Singapore/Indonesia with old friends (my Indian classmates from eng school).

Cheers

Hey Nattsubs.

I understand that you are leaving for good. Let me the first one to wish you Good Luck for the change. Your move is definitely different from many since you didn't migrate from India but still want to go back to India.

Well, we tried several time to meet but couldn't for one reason or other. Enjoyed lots of your posts and leaned a lot from your discussions with Desibabu.

GOOD LUCK.

Keep writing about your experiences.

Me too...me too. I'll be looking forward to reading your notes too.
Good luck and lots of best wishes:emrose:...with your move/plans. Hope all of you (including Nuttu has a safe and pleasant journey).

If you get a chance, please share any information you might have about moving pets like birds and fish. I'd definitely hate to leave Nemo and his friends...:emcry:

Hi all

Thanks for the wishes - appreciate them. I was speaking with my Mom last night - flight from S'pore gets into Hyd at 10:30 pm, by the time all paper work is done, weshould be home around 1am! Now, the challenge - they have 2 dog - at that hour, how are the dogs going to react seeing Nattu? It is notas if we can inform them so that they are prepared.

My Mom said, "we have it planned - we bought an A/C for your bedroom so that Nattu and you can be comfortable in the heat and be together the first night" Now, isn't that swell?

More later.

Cheers

OK, now is the D-day for this trip - leaving tonight. I realized that this trip was 3x the work of any trip to India - with Nattu's paperwork/crate stuff and getting the house ready to put on the market. I am exhausted and looking forward to finally sitting on the flight.

Re: Nattu having enough food on the flight - actually I am not planning on any for him. I will have a secure water bottle that he can lick the ball to get some water (I will fill it with icecubes) - but no food - 'cause then he will want to poo-poo. In Sngapore he will get food during the layover.

Cheers

Nattusbs;26774OK, now is the D-day for this trip - leaving tonight. [/quote]
This is the day I dread the most...for obvious reasons - I guess. I'll probably be a little happy (heading home), a little sad (leaving behind everything I've worked so hard), a little scared (yes, I think I would be...not sure why or what to expect), little uncomfortable, very tired physically, totally sapped - mentally, worrying about all the things that I'd have forgotten/missed, glad that I was able to get some of the things done....the list goes on.

It would be nice if Nattusbs could capture all this in the dairy...it might come handy for people in line.

Hi all:

Nattu and I arrived Saturday night at 10:30pm, through Singapore where the layover was 9 hours. SIA took good care of him, fed him and gave him water and so forth. At Hyderabad airport, there was absolutely no problem; they did not bother to even look at the documents I had so carefully put together. Folks there wer very curious to see such a large pet! Nattu was thrilled to see me at the Hyd airport when I let him out of the crate after such a long flight - he literally put his head on my shoulder in the back seat of the Toyota Qualis.

Doctor J - this was an amazing flight - considering going 1/2 way around the world with my 2 large suitcases, and the largest crate with a 110 lb GS Dog! I really don't know how I did it all - it must have been the adrelanine or I was on over drive - some key points:

1. Do all the paper work, homework, preparation carefully so that one cover all the bases.
2. Do not panic, just smile and it will all work out. Eg, when I was boarding the SIA flight in Sing for HYd, at the gate I asked the guy, "I have my dogin the cargo of this flight, I just want to know if he is OK"> He checked his PC and showed me a message "Have Live DOG". I started laughing and said " Good, as opposed to what? Dead Dog?" He started laughing.

I am thrilled to be back after living in NA for 26 years. Just need to sell the house and move for good - hopefully in a few months. There is so much of life here, the sounds, the smells (some nice, sone stinky - who cares - it is what it is!). People seem to be excited, spending like crazy, one can buy anything one wants. New malls, activities all kinds - food everywhere (going for Pani Puri and Chat after this mesage!).

Nattu has adjusted very well to my parents, their dogs and the new surroundings ? so much so that he has not barked even once. That is very good news for me since I was a bit apprehensive if he would jump on my Dad, for example and how we would need to handle that. I feel very comfortable that the major task of this trip has worked out so nicely.

Cheers
