We are considering R2I in a year or so. One of the issues we have read/heard relates to kids health. Having grown up in the US we are told that our kids have lower immunity level. Should this be considered in the R2I decision? Has anyone faced issues related to kids health after returning to India? Thoughts or suggestions welcome.

I am looking for similar info. Hope some kind soul can give us some feedback. In some ways, no news is good news, I guess. In other words, I am assuming that nothing significantly went wrong with kids in terms of health, which is a good news..

No response actually means this topic has been beaten to death. Check out the older MSN "R2IClub" forum. Based on all the hundreds of posting on this topic, the outcome is kids get used to Indian conditions in a year or so. Expect them to fall ill very frequently in the beginning but slowly they develop the necessary immunity. I know of no one on this forum who canceled their r2i plans because of this reason.
Hope this helps!

Kids get sick...
my eldest fell sick as soon as we came here in Nov 06 but had no such issues untill now...
now she has got a severe bout of coughing and mild fever...
youngest put on minimal weight untill now, fell sick often and still looks underweight but is a normal kid... she's put on weight now and does all the usual stuff for her age and catches on quickly as she follows her sis around...
they are 4.5 and 1.25 yrs now

We R2I'ed about 2 years ago. Our oldest kid was about 4 years and the younger one was 8 months old. Both of them used to fall sick very frequently. It was very frustrating for us since it seemed that they were on antibiotics all the time. The younger one was especially very bad, since the kid was still crawling and putting stuff that is laying around into the mouth. At one point in time there was a reaction against the milk we get here that there was continous throwing up. After about 6 months, things started slowly turning around and they developed the immunity. Right now they are not so susceptible to the things that they went through earlier. As a matter of fact, my younger one seems to have a better immunity than my older one.

Well it's true that your American born and raised kids may fall sick more than others in India ...but only during the first few months of R2I.
Infact in the long run it will be a good thing as it will help them build immunity ...isn't it?

it should have been Nov 06.. edited it now...
the point I wanted to make is kids get sick everywhere...
my eldest had lots of ear pain troubles as the weather varied in Oz... she had good immunity from flu at first but then that too started becoming common...
but its also true the risks are higher here in India...

Any Overseas product (except SG,KL etc) will not work in india as it is. Some work around/tinkering is required.
Isn't it human psychology to move the product here and there and end up in trouble, which is not worth, when compared the gains with losses.
Instead, buy/produce locally and move around after surpassing those initial issues.
