Lets rejoice this moment and congratulate Vishwanathan Anand for this feat after a long time. 2007 is a great year for India or what ? Hockey Asia cup, cricket 20/20 championship and Anand winning Chess championship.

He joked that he is curious about what kind of reception he would get in India after the kind of reception Indian cricket team got. :)

Hearty Congratulations to a worthy World Champion and a true Indian Hero. Vishwanathan Anand definitely deserves the recognition, name and fame...

It's been a wonderful few days for India, Indian Teams (in sports) and Indian sports personalities. Hope wish and pray the winning season (for India and Indians) lasts forever.

He is certainly a one relentless Indian hero who would never give up and kept at it until he finally achieved it. He won the world champanionship in 2000 as well but the championship was in dispute at that time.

Sorry, it went under my radar. It goes to show how pre-occupied we all are with cricket. From here after lets make an effort not to follow all the sundry cricket matches (ODIs, test matches :)) and concentrate on other sports as well.

It's the unified "World Championship" this time...there's no dispute whatsoever. So, Vishwanathan Anand is the undisputed World Champion of Chess.

Heartfelt Congratulations to Vishwanathan Anand for achieve a remarkable feat in Chess. He truly deserves to be a world champion. Inspite of great success in chess, I admire his great attitude especially his simplicity and love towards India where he promotes chess for Indian youngsters and also donating substantial amount of his wealth to Udhavum Karangal - a chairty organization in India.

Long Live Anand and may his tribe increase!!

Awesome achievement. Vishy didn't lose a game in this championship. That speaks a lot of his command over the game and the opponents.

On a lighter vein, he is keen to see how his reception is going to be in India given the warm (hot?) reception of Indian cricket team.

2010 championship. Anand and Topolav are drawn 5.5 - 5.5 after 11 games. 12th and final game to be played on May 12th.
