I live in Texas, and recently noticed what we call lizards in India (Geckos in US). They are icky and make me cringe. Is there any way to get rid of them? Does insect treatment take care of 'em? what does?
Thanks.

Geckos / Lizards : How to Eliminate Them
I hate lizards too. Even more than I hate cats.
One time in India we got our home treated for pests (with some pesticide). The guy told us it will take care of lizards too.
What happened next was nothing short of a horror movie.
Over the next few days the lizards turned color from brown to absolutely pale (you could see their veins) and finally blue. They became almost motionless. They finally all died but it was a very slow and scary death.

Go to a local home depot and get these .
These are sticky cardboard strips. Get large size. Careful do not touch them. Anything that goes on them is stuck and since some insects will be stuck the lizards will see the insects and jump on them. Keep them on the floor or on the wall whereever you see these lizards frequent.
Every spring, I buy a bunch of these and keep them in my garage, basement, and floors in the hallway and kitchen. They catch any type of insects in summer that get in to the house, spiders, flies etc. Many years back, I caught a small chipmunk that had gotten in my garage.

Then you can look at the large board, stuck with lizards, a few dead and the rest on their way, and cringe some more!
My suggestion: Move up North! :emwink:

Is the gecko problem very common in Texas? What about rattlers? Man I am out of touch with the problems that come due to warm weather all year round.

To get rid of lizards, you have to do one of the following:
Take away their food sources (i.e. starve them, thus kill them. To achieve this you have to eliminate their food sources.
Repel them such that they leave your place of abode and move elsewhere ( I don't know how this can be practically done).
Sterilize them (so they do not reproduce) and prevent additional ones coming into the house from outside. Prevention and sealing of the house is important, no matter what method you choose.
Trap them live and get rid of them.
Trap them dead (i.e. adopt trapping methods that kill them).
