Hindi Glasses View

First, thanks for the link - first time I heard Narendra Modi speak and watch him.

The fellow speaks good Hindi, although he mixes it with some Angrezi words. I did not know that he can speak Hindi well. It will help him get votes in the Hindi belt if wants to rule from Delhi later. He comes across as a clever politician. I now understand better why people say he is PM material.

If as he claims, he has helped Gujarat develop during his rule - 24 hour electricity to all that has persuaded even doctors to stay in villages, conservation of water, dramatic improvement in agri output, extended operating times for Courts to speed up justice and reduced pending cases - then he deserves credit.

He appears to be talking development now and if people want to vote him back to power because of his development track record - I have no issues with that.

My Hindi glasses (not the glasses of 3M - 3M stands not for Minnesota Manufacturing and Mining Company but Musalmaan, Missionary and Macaulay Ke Aulaad) are also showing me that he is the same guy who proclaimed "Hum Paanch Hamaare Pachees" (we 5, our 25) when it came to Muslims, and that he is the guy under whose rule, Muslims were massacred in broad daylight in Gujarat while the police and his admin abdicated their responsibility. He may try to live it down and refer to anyone who points to it as wearing Angrezi glasses. :)

I went back to the video just to make sure that I properly heard the question posed by a Mr. Gupta to Modi, about 46 minutes into the video, and Modi's response to the question.

Gupta asked Modi why it took his Govt 5 days to recognize Irfan Pathan and Yousuf - two cricket players from Gujarat who were apparently part of the Indian team that won the world cup in South Africa recently.

Modi countered by asking Gupta why it took Gupta 5 days to get the news of his Govt's recognition and asked him to double check his sources, thus implying that his Govt did not delay recognizing / announcing a cash award to the two players.

This business of whether Govt ought to be rewarding cricket players is a separate issue - however that is not the defense Modi used - instead he flatly rejected the basis of the charge itself.

Can anyone with non English glasses help by posting authentic info on the following:

(a) When (date) was the world cup won by India?
(b) Date on which Gujarat Govt announced a reward / recognized the two Gujarat players of the team.

I want to know if Modi conveniently went on the offensive to deflect the attack or whether the facts do support his offensive. It will also tell me something about his honesty when he is under pressure and his credibility.

Narendra Modi has all the qualities, which a National leader should have, he is charismatic, decisive, Patriotic, nationalistic, has superb management skills, innovative, excellent administrative skills.
Brilliant Oratory skills.

He has his vision very clear in curbing terrorism, about being ruthless in dealing with them.

It is very rare to find an excellent politician like him.

He surely has the caliber and stature to be the prime minister of the country.

He will be able to lead India economically on a much higher trajectory.

We need more patriotic and nationalistic persons like Narendra Modi.

Why do stupid reporters ask these questions? and if they did what do they expect from a leader like Modi? Modi shot back and asked, did you ask the same question when some soldiers from Gujarat died in kargil?

Is it the top most priority for a govt to constantly answer some skeptical questions which implies deliberate discrimination against Muslims? So what if it took 5 days to recognize Pathans? So what if the Gujarat govt didn't recognize them at all? It is wrong to assume that Modi doesn't have anything else to do other than keeping track of who is muslim and who is Hindu and then take actions accordingly. That is the classic example of English glasses.:emsmiled::cool:

The above is your response - it was not Modi's. Modi responded with words to the effect that the person who asked the question got info late, and I want to know if Modi lied or not. Feel free to wear whatever hat / glasses you want to and unearth the relevant info.

There are other things about your response that I will not comment on now, without prejudice to my views on the same.

I never heard such a speech from an Indian politician. He is definitely something thats for sure. I wish he never had a past that would haunt him forever and will also limit his ambitions on the national front. But as long as he survives in politics, I will take everything he is doing to Gujarat (in the post riot period).
------------------------

His past is still haunting him with the media and the politicians constantly targetting him.

Modi walks out of TV interview after being quizzed on riots

PM terms 2002 Gujarat riots a Holocaust

It is ridiculous a Congress PM is calling Gujarat riots a holocaust when his own party was also responsible for similar riots in Delhi after Indira Gandhi assassination. It is ironic that his own community was the victim of those riots. I would rather see some other party give names instead of BJP and Congress doing "pot calling kettle black" to each other.

Looks like India won the 20/20 world cup in South Africa on Monday, Sept 24, 2007 - if anyone who has followed cricket recently has a different date - please feel free to post.

Next I will try to look for when Gujarat Govt announced an award for Irfan and Yousuf.

According to Gupta, it took Gujarat Govt 5 days, whereas according to Modi, it took Gupta 5 days to get the news.

You are right about India winning the T20 World Cup on 24th September, 2007. It looks like the Gujurat Chief Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs.5 lakh award for Pathan brothers two days after i.e on 26th September 2007.
Check the link for details...

And, just for records, I don't care for this Modi fella and deplore the riot by religious fanatics.
