Interior Designers in Bangalore

Post by HemaK »

Hi!
I am looking to involve a interior designer for my house. It is half way through the construction. Though I have architect and contractor, I want to check out the interior designer/decorator for house interior.

I visited Modcon in BSK and the price blew me off. Only for the consultation ( material charges extra) they quoted fixed price of 3L. Is that the current market rate. I know few charge based on the %.

I really appreciate if you could recommed a designer who has helped you for your house/apt.

Thanks
Hema

I have never been able to figure out why interior designers exist. what is their value add? Cant you buy the furnitures yourself? Maybe look at some interior decorting magazines to get some cues. I think the desingers do the same.

If 3 lacs includes materials and furnitures then fine. If 3 lacs is consulting fees then forget it.

We got our interiors done by a guy who was refered by word of mouth. He is a one man show with a good set of carpenters. He took us to his completed projects in a few Shobha apartments. We were very happy looking at the quality of his work and so decieded to go with him. He does not have any overheads like office space, advertising, etc. He just finished our interiors in our apartment. We are pretty happy with his service and quality of work. If interested, I can share his contact information and pictures of our interiors that was done. My email id is gator__92-r2i at yahoo.com

Hi,

As Nand mentioned, there is no need of an Interior designer. Normally Interior designers refer some catalogues and come with some design which suites your house or office. There are very few designers who are actually creative and come up with some thing. Otherwise it is a waste of money.

I own a carpentry workshop in koramangala and we do all types of interiors and custom made furniture’s.

We have done so many projects in Bangalore and our rate is very reasonable. Actually we will give designs and you don’t have to pay anything for it.

We worked in Sobha, Mantri, Suncity and so many other apartments….

We charge 650/SFT for wardrobes and modular kitchens with superior quality materials and accessories ( Hettich, German)

If you are interested please contact me.

We are looking info on the following:
1. Carpenters and their rates for woodwork at home
2. where to buy wood, fixtures , lights etc.
3. where to buy Drapes from
4. Is there a school of interiors or architecture here ....thinking of getting a student to do the interiors
Thanks a ton.

Hi Hemak

We are also thinking of constructing an independent house in Bangalore South and are beginning to evaluate architects. If you don't mind, can you please share your experience with your architect and also pass on his/her contact info.

Also, I would appreciate if other members also share this info with us.

Regards

I bought an interior design software - am quite impressed with its capabilities and the detail to which one can design. It is also a good time pass for my wife :)

Better Homes and Gardens Interior Designer ($60)
http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/

I could even place comp monitor, keyboard, telepone on the table and see how it looks. only problem is the software is designed for american homes, so may not meet all our requirements. but it still is worth every penny - i now have my entire apt. in the software with every bit of details (potted plants, tube lights, bathroom mirrors etc.,) in it.

Hi All

We just came to know about Mistry architects in Bangalore. If any of you have had a first hand experience with them or know anything about them thro' your contacts, please share it with us. We are seriously evaluating architects in Blore for building an independent house on a 60X40 plot. We are in a bit of rush. So, any quick reply is much appreciated.

They are fine if you have a big budget and follow their direction. They do quality work no doubt, for a 40X60 I would check with a lot of people who can do the same job with better personal care
