Shopping in Saravana stores....

Friends,
Please read http://www.kumudam.com/magazine/Reporter/2007-07-29/pg3.php

If you shop in saravana stores, you might get things at a cheaper price but (as per kumudam article) it seems also you will get lots of abuses and plenty of physical violence.

My personal experience also last time (1 year back) was not so good and if you are not lucky you might be the guy in the kumudam article.

Moderator, please move this thread to appropriate place in case you feel so.

I could not read the article as it asked for some login and I did not have the fonts it required. But one thing is I have heard worst things of Saravana Stores.
Well as a business he has been giving many headaches to other business in T.Nagar, but from what I heard from other customers, I would not prefer to go there.

If someone can put what was in that article, maybe others also can get to know.

Folks - I am a fan of saravana stores low-cost price for branded products as they are an excellent buy. Hopefully, if we as a customer research the type of products we are going to buy in advance - we can just go there, order the product, pay the money and get the products shipped - that's it.

However, I agree their customer service sucks but hey if you could save 10% to 20% more on comparable branded products, why do we care about customer service.:emwink:

I will rate Saravana stores equivalent to Costco or Walmart except the customer service in terms of pricing.

guys, since when did we desis start becoming so sensitive?
a few store employees bashing and beating you up shouldn't deter you from buying stuff at discount prices, should it?
You might shop at a fancy mom-n-pop store, but would you be able to sleep peacefully at night knowing that Saravana store was selling the same bar of soap for 50 paise less? You might still try to sleep peacefully, but would your wife let you?

In case you have forgotten, other desis will torture you just because YOU ARE ANOTHER DESI. That's your biggest problem right there. Unlike Americans we don't need Osamas and Talibans to hate us - we desis hate each other.

Try getting to work in the morning without being abused at least 5 times by people on the road - for no fault of yours. Once in a while you will get beaten up too because an auto rickshaw tried to overtake you from the wrong side and since he couldn't keep up with your Hyundai Sonata, there was a collision. Or maybe, you were wiping tears off your girlfriend's face and either the police constable (who was secretly following you both the whole day) or your girlfriend thought that you were molesting her.

At least the Saravana store gives you a discount.

Jai Saravana store! Jai Hind! Kashmir hamara hai!

Pl dont compare it costco, may be to walmart
Costco offers good quality product for low price, walmart u get few good quality ones and most low or medium quality ones.

Cmon, beating up a customer is nowhere close to bad customer service
its atrocious...

#5 - Sorry if I have disappointed you. My all-time favorite stores is COSTCO - a great shop with excellent customer service, excellent low-cost price, outstanding products, good value except a few product selection and a $50 annual membership fee. However, they treat their employees well and pay them extremely well. It seems the minimum wage they pay to their employees is $17/hr with full benefits including health. If one stays in costco for 5 years, one gets atleast a minimum of $50k per annum which is outstanding by any standards. I appreciate the owner and management for their ethics and treating their employees.

I am comparing Saravana Stores BRANDED PRODUCTS ONLY to Costco and not the whole saravana stores products. In that sense, they are really good and they can be comparable to costco in terms of product quality and pricing and NOT customer service.

I think not many visited costco/BJ's in NJ (mostly near edison/woodbridge) . The customer service here are horrible and they suck here too. I was very upset initially after moving from the bay area. Now I got used to it. I am not supporting Saravana and any other stores. My point is that the customer service is inversely propotional to the crowds.
