Hey,
I am looking right model of washing machine and 100% dryer ( preferably a combo). I am spoiled with the the ones I had in US, so would be interested in knowing what fellow R2I'ers bought ( and maybe for how much), also are you happy with it?

I have a Whirlpool washer. It looks awfully small compared to the washer one normally sees in SFH in the US.
I prefer the model which allows top loading and comes w/ an agitator as compared to front loading tumble wash model.

I have a samsung machine, but I dont use it daily. Our maid uses it for "spin" only. If she is absent, then we use it. We are satisfied with its performance.

We bought a LG Tromm (forgot the model number) 5.5 kg front loading machine a few weeks back. So far, life is good. I use it for washing all my laundry (almost every 2 days and sometimes on consecutive days).

Do any of you have the LG machine with 100% dryer. I basically want to find out how effective it is.
Also what price did you guys pay for your LG Tromm.

chalo,
I am with you. I was spoiled with a 100% dryer in US and both me and my wife hate hanging clothes outside.
from what we heard, the only 100% dryer sold in india is from LG. They advertise it as 8kg but its only 4kg (8 kg for washing but dryer can use only 4kg). Every other machine we looked at was 80% or 90% dryer and you basically have to still hang clothes outside.
The drawbacks are:
- small size (4kg means that we end up running a wash cycle or two pretty much every day)
- takes a long time (1 hour to wash and 3 hours to dry)
- a little expensive by India standards (we paid about INR 42k)
The good things are:
- the clothes really come out well. I think they are better than US machines and even low-end drycleaning shops
- its designed for India so it takes care of things like hard water, electricity going in between etc.
- does not need hot water supply (like US-bought machines). heats its own water.
- very little noise and fully automatic.
- requires no plumbing. just plug it into a tap and go.
I can say that I am very satisfied with it. I will highly recommend it. They should increase the size (4kg is too small and if we are already thinking of buying another machine).

Whirlpool comes with a 100% dryer which can take 6 kg capacity. I used whirlpool in the USA, can't go wrong with them. IFB also has some models.

rajram,
this is not a washing machine. its just a dryer. if you buy this, you have to buy a washer separately.
IMHO, its best to buy something that washes AND drys as then there is no mess on the floor and no moving clothes around.

tarun101, I have seen in other thread that you have R2ied recently. Initially you were not fully satisfied... how are you feeling it now? getting better?
just got curious to know whether can R2I be successful once we continue to live there for sometime! :)
Thanks.
