Power Outage

Post by Kiki »

Hello Friends,

I am considering r2ing to a metro (Delhi/NCR, Mumbai or Banglore) by end of 2008. My parents live in one of the old sectors of Gurgaon and the power outage just amazes me. They get electricity for a total of about 10-12 hours out of 24 hrs a day :emdgust: ......Is this the case in other metro cities as well?

I hear a lot of appartment buildings with 24 hr power back ups, is it really happening or its just a propaganda by builders to sell?

I would greatly appreciate insight from members who have r2ied to above mentioned cities.

Thank you:emsmile:

No. it's not a hype by the builder..they do provide 24 hrs. backup..some exceptions if the generator ha sbroken down but it really is exception.

Some complexes provide limited backup means you cannot run more than one AC, refrigerators etc (limited power ..5KVA/10 KVA and you have stay within this in ur usages)..and some provide unlimited (you run whatever).

Most new complexes in Gurgaon (even smaller cities too) now come with this.

Mumbai (BSES/Reliance power supplied area) No outage. It is extremely rare in south mumbai and suburbs upto vikhroli/ Andheri. But the rest of suburban mumbai and outskirts like virar, thane, kalyan are messed up upto 5 hrs outage.

I also have 24 hrs power in Pune as well :). Some areas probably lose power on thursday.

how is the power situation in baner/pashan in Pune. I agree here the mumbai suburbs where I live there is no probem overall. Might be a case of downtime once in 2-3 weeks of 1 hour due to maintainence reasons I believe

pune has avoided load shedding in 2007 because companies are supplying to the power grid from their captive power plants. however if power requirements keep going up then inverters may be needed in the home.
