Would really appreciate if anyone an throw light on this topic. We are also having to change our current cooking range/oven and wondering if should buy with a perspective that it can go to India with us. Given that in India we will be using LPG and here its natural gas or propane. Would it work in India?

can't comment on bringing the range from us ..but suggest that you buy one here ... there are equivalent quality ranges are easily available from many brands ..one we have is 4 burner with oven similar to one we had there.

Thanks r2iedhappy,

Are these the smilar kinds with all the baking broiling and stove top fnctions available in US? Also, as Ashish also wants to know, what price range are they in?

Yoru profile shows that you are in Gurgaon region, we are also planning to move there. How are finding the change?

Thank you so much for your help.

Yes the range is similar to ones we used there - 4 gas burners and over under it I with built in lighter, inside oven light, timer (two/three racks inside the oven).

We bought Kaff (~35,000 INR), there are more sophesticated, higher end ones available as well. Some people prefer to have a normal 4 burner stove and install "electric" oven seperate to a better height instead of under the stovetop. That's why I was suggesting to come and decide on the place to live and then pick the appropriate range depending on the size and space of kitchen.

As for living in GGN, you have to get over initial "shock" no matter where you go in India ..daily hassles, dependency on serivce people, unreliablity and unprofessionalism in every walk of life (give t a year). Once your system is ready for indian lifestyle..this is a wonderful place to live..lots of malls, multiplexes, good schools, good professional community, most apts complexes come with enough playground, swimming pools, tennis courts etc, good clubs, pubs etc. Most people I know who moved here are quite happy and well settled and most of all kids are enjoying more than parents!

bosncr,

DLF ph3 is a well devloped area..I am sure you'll be able to settled down well there. Just be prepared for a bumpy ride for the first year..too much will happen in that time and you'll face most of the beurocratic crap in that period (read PAN card, Rashio card, LPG cnnection, Driving license, bank accounts etc. etc.) which are one time issues but may bog you down..have some free time in hand to deal with them and you're home:)

Good Luck.

We have brought a range from Uk. It does not work here straight away as the range has burners for PNG while we have LPG here. It leads to balckening of utensils. We tried to get the burners replaced. people are willing to do it but do not inspire confidence. For the time being we are using the Indian burners and waiting for PNG to come to NOIDA for us to be able to use our imported range.
