Please, there is nothing like a "RTO agent", unless you are planning to get something done that is usually not allowed. If there is a language problem , please take someone who knows Kannada. That should solve all your problems.
As far as I remember, even 10 years ago, all the forms were available in English too.

Thanks THB for the information. I contacted Mr Raju today and he sounds very professional. He mentioned that he will give information on how to proceed and then I can either go ahead and do it myself based on the info he provides or he can provide me more help to get it done.

Hello All,

I was suppose to go to Florida for a short visit and was running for help to get my IDL. Through the contacts, I was able to get in touch with Raju - number quoted above. You all agree, in short notice what will be the pain you need to undergo, but the guidance what I did receive from Raju, i was able to get the IDL in 3 - 4 hrs; with the internal issue of my address change in my DL, this took only 2 day!!!!!!

I thank from bottom of my heart that this person help/guidance has helped me to acheive what I needed in short period of time with no extra cost spent.

Thanks Raju!

Regards,
Rajesh Rao.

Folks - there is no need to use any RTO Agents. Both myself and my wife have got DLs/renewed DLs/changed addresses on DLs - all without going to any agent.
Simply go to the RTO, stand in line, get the forms, attach the documents and submit the forms & fees. You will get what you need without paying a bribe.

Yes - it means that you have to take some time off from work and yes it will not be as quick and simple as in USA, but you can do it the right way and feel proud that atleast you were a part of the solution and not a part of the corruption problem of India.

Please don't get any agents. Do it yourself.

r2i4c;99016RTO agent just helps you with the paper work, prepares you for the written tests, and accompanies you to the RTO office (to bribe the officials to get them to process the legitimate paper work prepared by the agent). Bottom line - there is nothing illegal or morally wrong, in my opinion, in using RTO agent's services.

Hello! Paying a bribe is illegal!!!

dbs;99021Neither the RTO agents nor the RTO personnel are root of the problem. We are thr root of the problem by agreeing to fall in with them.

After running around 2-3 times for the documentation and tired, all such fundas go for a sixer and pragmatism starts setting in.

Just happen to read your post accidentally and second your thoughts. I shared my experience with RTO in other thread.
