Is there a device out there which would work as Cell phone + GPS (without a need to subscribe for GPS service)? Is it a good idea? Any recommendations?
TIA.

Better to keep these two functions seperate.
You have to shell out more money for cell phone + GPS combination. say around $700 for a decent one.
For $300 - you get a better cell phone and for another $300 u get a best GPS that can be used in USA

if you really want to combine, go with Blackberry curve 8310 or 8820. You can get either of those from free - 150$s with service activation depends on from where you want to buy

You can get them on craigslist for $300, unlocked if you are lucky, and no contracts.

cadude;80017Garmin Nuvi 660 is awesome.

Thanks everybody for your replies and suggestions.
With 660 I noticed that it has (audio through car stereo system), how does it work? Some preset FM channel?
Here are some more parameters.
Would GPS from US would work in India?
All I could find was a thread by Tarun regarding GPS in india from http://www.mapmyindia.com/navigator/in thread http://www.r2iclubforums.com/clubvb/showthread.php?t=4853
Not sure if anyone has any experience loading their maps on GPS purchased from USA.
I am tempted to buy following as it has vdo player also not sure though whether I will use it or not. But it doesn't have audio through car stereo system.http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11269574&search=GPS&Mo=72&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search&lang=en-US&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Sp=S&N=5000043&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=GPS&Ntt=GPS&No=1&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1

Harman Kardon sucks. Check reviews on amazon.
The best portable navigation device (PND) is from Garmin. Check out the reviews.
