Anyone decided not to have kids?
I have few friends who do not want to have children and have taken a stand not to have one. A very good article on it

Anyone decided not to have kids?
This question can be further extended to anyone decided to have only one child and being pestered to have one more.....
There is serious social pressure in India (unbelievable for me but this is something I learnt recently though not my personal experience) to have hum do hamare do....
The moment first child gets to 2/3 the questions start coming for second child....and many times at least one of the spouses are also for having second child (mostly women???)....
there is one more thing....your own choice could change over a period of time....I have seen that happenning with a few people who were decided not to have children and at quite later years in the relationship decided to go for one despite added challenges (specially because of woman's age)....
anyway can anyone tell the reasons not to have children or is it just natural desire not to have children....

I saw in one TV program (few years back, I believe in discovery channel) that its natural human desire to leave his/her genetic mark (through children) on this earth before he dies. So I don't believe if any one says that he/she don't want children.
I personally want as many children as possible. This desire is normally restricted by other reasons and one of them is financial.

You can read the article, which I pasted above. Lot of reasons are mentioned. For me it was freedom! Having a child restricts your life (I feel).

I see nothing wrong in it, rather having just one kid has its own issues especially in this country where you don't have many relativesb2b;90680

You will 'hear' only women say that but men equally 'want' 2 children, at least in my known circle.b2b;90680

'Freedom' is the most common excuse, to me its not a valid excuse, such 'freedom' becomes less and less important at later (35+) years in life...

So, you think everybody is wired just like you or needs to be wired just like you?

Why not? Just because you something on TV now you know everything about how billions of humans should function? That is mighty shallow.

I know a lot of my office collegues (indian and others) who dont have children, reason, they feel quality of life is degrading by he years, specially the ones that want to R2I, they have decided not to have kids, as they dont want to bring a life into the kind of world it has become today , with extreme pollution, rat race attitude.

No, this is my personal view, folks may choose to differ. Doesn't childless freedom become less important at later stage in life? one does not have much need of that freedom after 35, one doen't party everyday at that age...
Also, you will find couple with kids interact more with other couples with kids. they have one more (kids activities, schools etc) topic to talk about.
