A question about Daycare ...

Post by Truely_Desi »

Hello guys,

My 3 yerars old baby has just started going to Day care. I am paying $100/wk and my question is do they charge for the days he does not go there.

The situation is, My baby had fallen sick and he did not go for 2 alternate weeks (1went/2Absent/3went/Absent)...the daycare people were asking fee for those 2 weeks too. I kept update the daycare staff that he is sick and won't come.

Please share your experiences, I don't know if daycare rules are like that.

Appreciate your responses.

Thanks,
TD

Most daycare centers will charge for days you don't go(unless you explicitly have switched daycare).

Some of them grant 'vacation' for India trips & such and this may have to be pre-arranged; in those cases, they may charge 50%, ymmv.

Daycare is generally not pay-per-use.

Check with your day care if they can count these two weeks as vacation. We pay 50% of the normal rate for the vacation weeks.

We used to call the daycare and let them know if our child(ren) were going to miss daycare for 2 or more days. We would pay a reduced amt. for those days.

We pulled the children out of the daycare when we went on a extended trip to India and re-enrolled them after we returned. There was some savings inspite of the re-enrollment/registeration fee etc.

OP, that is correct charge. Once you enroll you have to pay regardless. Only thing is that most places allow you to accrue vacation time where you dont pay (typ 1 day for every month of fees payed)

My 3 yr old goes to a montessori school and they charge $675 per month. The school is open 6:30 am-6:30 pm with no timing restrictions. They offer chinese and spanish classes for free but you have to pay extra for other classes.
