2008 NBA -Playoffs and Finals

Calling all NBA aficionado's.

The western Conference looks like heading for a wild wild west finish....Never seen such a tight race in along time.
The eastern conference looks like heading for a mild mild finish...

My pick for the NBA finals winner is from the East coast no not the celtics..:emteeth: I think the Detroit Pistons will take it all..

Eastern Conference predictions:
Most Dangerous team in the 1 st round of playoffs : Philadephia 76ers.
Most fun to watch will be : Oralndo Magic

Western conference Predictions:
Most Dangerous team in the 1st round of Playoffs: Dallas Mavericks. They are the "Golden State Warriors of 2008":emwink:
Odd number championship year team: Spurs. They will win only if the year ends in an odd number.
So no trophy in 2008 :emsmile:
First round fodders: Lakers,Rockets

I agree with you; Dallas' comeback against the Phoenix Suns yesterday was phenomenal and I'm sure it would have caused heck of a fear for the top 4 teams; nobody would want to face them in the 1st round playoffs; Western playoffs will sure be fun to watch.

Eastern Conference: The Celtics are coasting along but, never count the Pistons out. Cetics might be really tested by James and the Cavaliars and might get to the E-Conf finals totally weary (Remember Pistons of the last few years). If Cavaliars take Celtics to 7.. I then think Pistons will just cruise over to the finals if not, we are in for a classic (Celtics/Pistons).

76ers vs Magic - Thats the current 1st round matchup. Thats interesting too. It might end up with how the youngsters play around Andre Miller.

Western Conference: I still think the finals will go thru San Antonio. Never count them out too (Timmy, Parker, Ginobli & Pop). Mavs don't even have a decent chance against the Spurs in the first round.

Lakers/Suns will be interesting. Moreover, Shaq a Sun now. Hornets, Jazz, Rockets (forget it, the whole west-conference) are right there hoping this is their year.

Finals:
Media prefers: Celtics vs Lakers/Suns
I prefer: Spurs/Lakers vs Pistons

I still think the Spurs are the team to beat. They break their even year jinx and repeat for the first time.

Dallas is not a good team. Why? Because their coach sucks and they made a horrible midseason trade.

They are likely to be matched up against the Spurs and when they traded Devin Harris, they traded the one guy they could match up with Tony Parker.

I actually think that the Warriors will get in and will shock the New Orleans Hornets first round, again.

My West Predictions:

NOL(1) vs GSW(8) -> GSW wins 4-2
SAS(2) vs DAL(7) -> SAS wins 4-2
LAL(3) vs PHX(6) -> LAL wins 4-2
UTH(4) vs HOU(5) -> UTH wins 4-1

West SF:
UTH(4) vs GSW(8) -> UTH wins 4-1
SAS(2) vs LAL(3) -> SAS wins 4-3

West F
SAS(2) vs UTH(4) -> SAS wins 4-2

If DEN instead of GSW makes the playoffs, NOH advances but loses to UTH in the 2nd round.

The Spurs will repeat this year. No other "team" not individual players have the playoff and NBA Finals experience as the Spurs. Go Spurs Go! Go for the repeat this year and break the even year jinx as well!!

I think Lakers will be gone in the first/second round.
Lakers-Suns will be good for the TV channels because it involves Shaq -Kobe.
But the real effect will be provided by Paul gasol(Lakers) and Raja bell(suns).
If i am the Phoenix coach i would let bell hang around Kobe's face all the time and take Shaq out of the game in the 4th quarter to see some free throws actually thrown in the bucket.:emwink:

Manu can script the spurs to the finals but the even number year Jinx for the spurs is not going anywhere.:emsmile:

I don't fancy much the Celtics record because they played most of the games against the weak teams in Eastern conference. The same may apply to Pistons but they have the experience and Rasheed wallace makes the big difference.
Kevin Garnnet gets very uptight in the playoffs, and i thought it was because of Minnesota's frigid weather, but boston is equally frigid.He might been better off with Phoenix suns.
Magic -76ers duel should be a delight to watch if it happens.

Yesterday Phoenix suns beat SA Spurs comprehensively in their own court.
The difference between the 2(Spurs),3 and 5 placed teams and phoenix suns(6th place) is just 0.5 games.:emteeth:

Looks like the seedings is just for number sake in Western conference.Any body will be able to anybody on a given day at any place.

But the race for 7,8 seed is what makes the western conference race very very interesting.

I feel Spurs are lacking the fight this season...It will be either Lakers or Suns that wud emerge from Western Conf. It will be Celtics from Easter Conf.

From the past years, we have seen that if any team that can beat Spurs in post-season, it's none other than Dallas. Manu and Parker personally called and thanked Baron Davis and Stephen Jackon of GS last year when GS trashed Mavs in playoffs; Spurs always had tough time dealing Mavs. Now Mavs are gaining their rhythm back and Kidd is getting more used to the system showing results, he can provide the toughness that Mavs always lacked to finish games. Dirk is really playing like an MVP (yesterday's performance against Utah was awesome) with 75% health. All said, I wouldn't be suprised if Mavs go all the way to the top this year. :emthup:

it will be between spurs, mavs or suns in the west like in previous years. Dont count the spurs out yet... they might be trying to avoid mavs in first round...it will be Boston in the east....Hope Dallas goes all the way this time...
