filing consumer court case

Post by jn_mohit »

Tata Indicom had put stalls in my company's building and I signed up for a post-paid mobile connection with the agent at this stall.

It took me a month to get a connection (which was supposed to be given in 2 days) after lots of fights and spending hours on phone with the CS and getting thrown from one person to another.

Coming to the main problem, i paid a hefty sum for a high end phone, but the phone that the agent gave me looked to be a used one and I did not want to take the handset at all but he convinced me that he'll get it replaced.

When I talked to his supervisor, his supervisor says that the agent got the phone from someplace other than tata and he can not do anything in this regard.

When I asked him that since he is employed with Tata you are responsible, he said that the agent is not employed by Tata, he is employed by some other company whom the Tata outsources this job.

So in effect what he is saying is, if the agent is getting them money they'll gladly take it but they'll not take care of any of his wrongdoings.

Can anyone offer me advice on what should I do, should I go and file a police complaint against the agent (I am little afraid to do so as I am new to Bangalore) or even the supervisor coz when I wanted a connection I got a mail from supervisor giving me the plan details so he knew about this connection.

Thanks

I would complain to the Tata supervisor's manager and if that did not work I would file a petition w/ the consumer protection bureau.

I believe Tata has a CSC near Forum Mall. A face-to-face meeting w/ a manager there might help.

In the end even if you are not compensated, it might help prevent others from being duped in a same manner

This link might help, I have only skimmed it and haven't read it in detail- http://www.citizenmatters.in/articles/view/44-the-consumer-protection-act-can-work-for-you

Please update this thread w/ your experience and findings.

Good luck

I did not have a very good experience with the Tata CSC @ Forum mall, if nothing works out I would try to get the name of the supervisor's manager but what I have seen here is they would refuse to give the manager's number sometimes.

I didn't go for any fancy scheme, I just returned back from US, needed a mobile connection and my parents have Tata Indicom so I went ahead with them.
