Be careful of thie thread, it is quite possible that someone might already be an insider of the school.
COSTLY / IN-EXPERIENCED TEACHERS / FAR / LIBRARY IS JUST A SHOW OFF / YOUTUBE IS A MARKETING TOOL.
GOOD THOUGHTS of Sr. Management but lacks good teachers.
Did I say COSTLY SCHOOL?
My honest opinion, the PR person what talks about is lot more than what school actually has to offer.
Doesn't have good teachers, any parent who returns from US and is interested in teaching w/o real prior experience is being selected as the teacher.
Some one who is spouce of India Army is selected as a teacher thoough she might not have prior teaching experience.
True cases...
Merging of classes (ratio goes from 25 to 30 +) per teacher
Extra costs added w/o prior information to parents.
Not all is well here. If you have extra money yes, go for it, but if you want to get good education, not here.
Food costs / transport costs / is extremely high.
Music classes are there, how much are kids learning or tought is totally going south.
Anyone who favors my opposition strongly, I would be assuming is insider.
Fee hike rate is 20 %.
Trust me, it is an easy entry process, but exit might become an issue when your child gets dumber that what he / she was when started schooling.
It is good school for someone who hasn't seen world outside hyderabad or is considering for a transition period as everything will be done over the phone.
School is only till 10th grade, when we return from US, we think ah.. mykid is way far from 12th, why do I care.
But in 10th std last year there were only 8 or so kids...
The PR person is real nice to get things done, Principal is very good. Infrastructure is excellent.
Director has very good thoughts and has marketed school very well.
But where are the teachers????? If I would give 9 in scale of 1 - 10 for PR / Principal / Director, I would honestly give 2 rating to teachers.
Location is way far off from the city.
Sr. Staff at Glendale if you are going through this, yes it is 200% true get better teachers.

Hi njToHyd2009,
which school do your kids go to? Did you visit Glendale initially and did not like it, or you had your kids there and then moved them out. Thanks for the inputs.

I'm curious to know where exactly is Glendale. The website says APPA junction and some searched on google bring it up as located near Artillary center, Gandipet. IWe'r looking for 2011 admision for my 2 year old kid. How should we start about the admission proces ofr this school.

Its about 2 km from the APPA ORR junction. While a bit far from the city, its very easy to get to on ORR. They have comfortable school buses connecting almost all important areas in the city. Email the admission co-ordinator (address on their website), and they are pretty good at responding.

Greedy for money !!!
Kid fomr this school can't even pass simple tests of other schools.
If you want your kid to drain out his / her knowledge, go for it. Staff is hardly qualified. Well marketed for infra but poor education. Keeping cost aside, there are many lost cost fees that perform lot better and create innovative kids.

How you feel?
Did you continue your kids education there?

coming2india;126188Our kids started their schooling in India this academic year at Glendale Academy. They are 9 and 5 years old. We had certain issues in the beginning, but I guess that was part of settling down here. Now, the kids are happy which gives us no reason to complain.
The main problem that we have is commute to school. We live in My Home Navadweepa near HI Tech city. The school bus ride is an hour and a half each way. After talking to the school authorities, they were kind enough to transfer us to another bus route which is like 10 mins drive from home. That way we save 40 mins each way. Now the commute is less than an hour and the kids have made friends on the bus.
Also the approach to the school is bad. The gali that leads to the school is very narrow, no proper road and is a mess when it rains. But as long as they go on the bus, I am ok with it because it is beautiful inside the school.
Lunch at school is mandatory, but if your child has some special needs or does not like the food there they let you bring your own lunch. Lunch is decent and well balanced, though not one of the tastiest. The standard menu is Roti, sabzi, dhal, rice and yogurt. The food is unlimited but you they dont allow kids to waste any food. The hand wash in the lunch room has some flies. The bathrooms in the school are clean;
They have good indoor & outdoor activities and a nice jungle gym.
Teachers and the principal are understanding and very approachable. My 4th grader gets 15 - 20 mins of homework everyday and a couple of projects a week that needs some online reasearch.
Academically the standards are not so high in English and Math. EVS we need to put in extra effort. THe main plus is they are teaching HIndi at the 1st grade level. We had the parent teacher meeting on Saturday and I was surprised when they showed the report card and did not let us take it home.
OVerall we are settled in the school and will continue there next year also.
