#49,
I'm currently looking into this for myself. There are 3 in the segment - SX4, City and Hyundai Verna. I eliminated the hatchbacks as its not worth the money (i20,Jazz etc.).
Of the 3 above I'm tilting towards SX4. Looking at Delhi roads I see plenty of City and Dzire(not sure it has AT) but not much SX4 and Vernas.
Apparently Honda here holds a premium value but I'm not liking the fact that it is minimalistic (no auto climate, CD player etc.), has low ground clearance and yet is the most expensive of the pack. Verna has soft suspension. Sx4 is a winner in that regards as its feature loaded and has the highest ground clearance. Only hitch is its back seat which has a hump in the middle making it
essentially a cmfortable two seater.
Looking at the car releases ahead, Maruti may release the diesel version that might be interesting but cant wait that long. Maruthi Kizashi is due next year in the 10-12 lacs range. I looked it up at the US Suzuki web site and would have bought that in a blink. Corolla and Civic AT is in the 14 lac + range and I dont want to commit so much early as I'll be looking at second car down the line too.

Hi all! Has anyone thought about a Tata Indica Vista? I have had good experiences with this car (rental, hired for a New Delhi - Uttarakhand trip), the overall impression is that of a comfortable yet sturdy vehicle, with the diesel not being too much of an inconvenience. Never drove one though.

Generally speaking, TATA Indicas are used as taxis, and not too many people own it. I have heard that it drives a bit like a truck when compared to other hatchbacks in the same class.

No power steering or just a brand rub-off?

rajram123;140880Seating convenience is not bad in Santro and the suspension has been much better than some midsize cars. I have no complaints of any back pain etc. I bought a SX4 initially as they did not have the Santro automatic when I returned. Now I use the SX4 for mostly longer trips.
rajram,
I am considering buying the SX4 automatic as first car - how do you like this car for comfort? Any performance issues? I will be travelling from B'lore to Chennai atleast 1 a month and local driving in B'lore. I will not need it for work commute.
My other choice is the Hyundai Verna diesel automatic. thanks.

Not RajRam. But -
Bought Automatic SX4 in Pune/ Overall very happy - except for one design issue - the right front side, in-famous A-pillar. Other than that, very pleased. Cost about 9.6L.
Let me know if you need any other info.
