'Naan Kadavul' Tamil Movie, one of the best in recent times
I saw Bala's Naan Kadavul starring Arya and Pooja today. Excellent movie and certainly the best movie in Tamil in the last 2-3 years. This movie will make Slumdog look like a posh movie, as it goes even deeper into the realm of poverty and beggary in India than Slumdog. Music by Ilayaraja is mind blowing. He should get all the oscars and grammys next year unanimously for the music. Must watch movie, quite different from the steroetypes all the various "woods" in the country have been making recently. Kudos to Bala, he has elevated Indian cinema beyond the boundaries of fake heroism and idol worship. If you have seen the movie, please post your comments and reviews.

I watched this movie yesterday evening and was left speechless for an hour or so. The harsh reality portrayed in this movie just shocks you to the core. The dialogues are razor sharp and the climax is riveting.Illayaraja is a genius. when it comes to BGM no one can beat him. The song "pichaipathiram" and the picturization of the same will haunt me for a long time.Arya as Rudran and Pooja as Amsavalli are perfect for their respective parts and this movie will be a milestone in their career's.Kudos to Director Bala for making such a classic. It is a very risky and bold attempt.I sincerely hope this movie becomes a big hit.

You and your recommendation! Thought that I will educate myself on the background prior to watching the movie. Shouldn't have done that.
I downloaded a short documentary called "Truth behind Bala's Naan Kadavul", a documentary on the Aghories. I once read about them and had quoted the article in some other thread. I should have been content just reading about them. This documentary pretty much captured their deeds and it is absolutely amazing/repulsive/shocking. I watched them feasting on corpse while I was eating my daal-rice combo for dinner and the worst part is that I continued my dinner watching this gory documentary. (something wrong with me, I guess ).
I can't upload this here for I don't know if there is some copyright on this documentary (didn't state any). But, it will wake up every Indian to the fact that there are people like Aghories still in India.
I will watch the movie and write my review. Thanks for the recommendation. :)

Thanks for the recommendation. I know Bala is a good director. I liked Pithamagan. Sethu a little bit only.
So, we have one more director in tamil who is willing to experiment, moving away from the strreotypes!:):)
