modus_vivendi;150541 Also, someone compared it to the "little black dress" of the West!
if you are referring to my post i did not compare with little black dress. i compared with black dresses in west.most of the women look good in a black dress even black pants and shirts or evening gowns.in the west even an average/less average looking women looks good in black dresses....i think most of the people share that opinion...

Now, people out of their contempt for the 'Indian culture' delay marriages well until they are well into their twenties and the same 'Indian culture' forbids free mixing of genders. Perfect recipe for increasing sex crimes.
Oh my goodness, I dont believe I am reading this. How did they allow you to step anywhere out of your home ?
Science..did you take any science classes at school ? Please please... dont tell me your science teacher also believed this.
Goodness gracious.. I am devastated to say the least.

OK. We were assuming different meanings of "dress". You meant black pants and shirts also as dress, and I didn't think dress means anything that can be worn. It is an Indian vs American usage thing. If I ask my friend in India, "Which dress are you planning to wear tomorrow?" She can reply one of salwar-kameez/sari/ skirt/jeans/ pants/slacks/half-saree. If I ask my friend in the U.S.A. "Which dress are you planning to wear tomorrow?". Her answer will not include jeans/pants/slacks/. It will be limited to a little black dress or a blue one or mauve dress/gown/"frock" mostly 1 piece kind of thing. At least that is my understanding.
Anyway, I get your point now. Yes, black is indeed considered a color that is kind to many in the West. So your point is that similarly half-saree will look good on many in India. I also feel that's true, there is a certain grace in it.
But, I am still not sure about comparing "A: black pants, shirts, evenings gowns" to "B: any color half-saree". (A) is one color, many dresses and (B) is one dress, many colors.
ubn76;150456To end though, given that many folks find a little stomach showing as "enticing" - it is no wonder women have taken "refuge" in the "churidaars".
Well, I have found some people very attractive in some churidaars, but then I am getting on.
How come we strayed from half-saree to olive oil and fat:emangry:

Good-for-nothing men will always go astray
I believe this thread has clearly "NO MERIT" in the R2I club.
Oh come on, some may want to come back for the half-saree show.
