Kerala->Cochin-> Anyone has experience with Rajagiri school?

Post by raghav16 »

Hi Maryvams,

Thanks for such a useful post. I am planning to return to Cochin in May this year from London. I have been looking at this forum for a while and just joined. I have a son who will start 6th std in June. I am very keen on seeking admission in Rajagiri though they have said there is no vacancy. Well I just need to try some influence I guess and I pray it works out fine. Does Rajagiri offer French as a second language from 6th std? Is Global Public School good and easy to access from Edappally? Your help and information on this will be really appreciated.

Thanks

maryvams,

Can you share more information about the Rajagiri school and entrance test?

What kind of entrance test they have? What are the subjects? Is it too difficult for little kids?

How is the fees structure there?

I will try to answer as much as I can.

1. I do not know much about using influence at Rajagiri.
2. My kids were able to go thru the test that was conducted by Rajagiri. My experience says the earlier you come back to India the better you are in getting the admission.Lower the class the kids get admission the better they are able to cope with the r2i aclimatisation.
3. As I stated before they give the admission forms before Jan 15th. IT would be best to get the process started in December last week onwards. (That is true with most the schools).
4. The website for Rajagiri is http://www.rajagiri.ac.in It is updated regularly.
5. The website for Christu Jayanthi is http://christujayanthi.ac.in/
6. Rajagiri is a well established School.
7. French is available from 6th Standard. So my kids have Hindi and French as their languages. English is compulsory ofcourse :)).
8. Regarding life in Kochi is pretty laid back compared to other cities.
9. The roads are horrible of course. This is a bane of Kochi.
10. I am not answering anything about other instituitions cause I am not a master of the process.
11. For kids coming from USA/UK best to go for French according to my opinion.

Once again apologies for returning to this board so late.

[QUOTE]9. The roads are horrible of course. This is a bane of Kochi.

So true. And the driving habits. And the pedestrian habits. The smallness of the roads and the limited motorable surface of this smallness is further accentuated by the population density and the huge number of vehicles on the road. Kochi has every kind of car outlet, including Porsche. But the worst roads....

I understand this is an old thread, but wanted to put the information out there in case anybody is looking. We r2ied in June this year. My wife made a 1-week trip in March with the kids for the school admission process, and we managed to get both kids admitted in Rajagiri Public School. School is great, among the best in Kochi. There is also a State syllabus school in the same campus. Fees are about 3000/kid/month.

During my days , my parents use threaten me that they will put me in Rajagiri school (for their stricter disciplinary policy)
Is it still the case ? If I recall it was a boys only school ?

:)) LOL...It used to be a boys only school, now it's coed. I would also like to hear if it's strict, that's one question I missed. :))

I studied in a Convent girls only school which was considered the equivalent of Rajagiri for girls at that time and I found the atmosphere really good for studies. There were couple of teachers who used to terrorize but they were asked to tone it down (probably parents complained). Now that too has been made a co-ed.
