School Admission deadlines in Chennai for year 2010

I would like to hear from some of you in this thread who have returned / returning about the school they got admission. Please let us know and it will help us who are soon returning a great deal.

Hello Poofy Google We are planning R2I June 2010. My daughter has got admission in Harishree for 6th grade. However, My second daughter who will be in third grade has not secured admission. Could you shed some light into the academics and the school as a whole? HSV says they will give admission for my second daughter next year. Are there any other schools nearby where i can enroll her and send my 6th grader to HSV? Thanks and please do throw some light into their academics and their culture.

wow, they said the same for me too. First kid in 6th grade will get it if we accept for 1 lakh donation but they refused to even give admission form for kid in second grade. So we decided to go with Vael's Billabong instead.

Jayashree - Academics is ICSE syllabus. they have a program called Xseed program. (details of this can be found at www.idiscoveri.com) The kids gets all round development, stress free , balanced education i would say.
My kids have had no issues there. They also teach music, yoga and are in touch with Hindu culture in general (poornaVidyalaya concept).

Other schools nearby:- I know there is Bambino in RA Puram (which is difficult to get and has only till 5th but give it a shot). I am sure there are other schools at RA Puram.

Could anyone please clarify the languages taught in ICSE. Does the student required take 2 languages or 3 languages.
Does everyone needs to take 2nd and 3rd language in ICSE. i.e is all 3 languages taught from grade 1 or 3rd language starts at 5 grade.

You have two languages till 3rd grade and pick-up a third language from 4th grade. One of the recent mandates from the board is that the second language has to be one of the Indian languages unless the child is a citizen of another country.

Correction: Third Language is only from Grades 5 - 8. It does not get tested in the 10th & 12th exams. Some ICSE schools, even though don't offer a language of your choice (French/Spanish etc.) for the second language, they will allow you to get private coaching and sit for exams.

2nd and 3rd languages are Hindi/French/Tamil. No Sanskrit offered. How is your admission process going on?
