Smart City is Coming up... http://keralaitnews.com/other-it-news/smartcity/2005-smartcity-kochi-project-gets-a-new-lease-of-life

Looks like Tecom and Kerala govt has finally reached an agreement on the 12% free hold land that was the major bone of contention. The work is supposed to start in a few months. Hoping all this will really work out and the job scenario would be much better in a few years.

This may sound like a utopian thought, but is there a city in Kerala where one can pursue an IT type job and still not stay in the thick of it all. Work in IT but live and prosper in a typical nadan environment with your own house, kids going to a good school with a resonable commute time etc..

Yes,kochi. But you have to wait for IT jobs to open up. You can choose to live Tripunithura/thereabouts and most of IT jobs are at Infopark off Seaport-Airport Road. There are also good schools which are in the area and off the main city areas.

I was thinking Kalamassery would also be a good location, close to everything, easy access to seaport-airport road, good schools etc.

kalamassery is good but has less amenities and space comparatively. But essentially the outskirts of the city are beter for living.
