iphone Unlocked 3GS32GB

I'm planning to purchase an "unlocked" iphone 3gs and carry it to India on my R2i. I have certain doubts.
1) Can it be used with any service provider in India (as of now for 2G services) ?
2) Is the charger compatible with Indian wall sockets ?
3) What all should I check for in the box ?

Yes, you can use it with any GSM provider's sim card.

2) Is the charger compatible with Indian wall sockets ?
Remember: 99.9% of laptops, mobile chargers, digital camera chargers, camcorder chargers come with 110v-240v compatibility means you can use it anywhere in the world. You just need a flat-to-round plug to use in Indian wall sockets.

3) What all should I check for in the box ?
Apple supplies - iPhone, wall charger with USB cable, dock(cradle) and a user manual in the box.

How much is it costing to buy unlocked iPhone 3GS in US? Which site you are planning to buy from?

In India, Airtel is selling it for around 35K.

You can buy iPhone 3GS directly from at&t with no-commitment price. (No contract)

No Commitment prices are $599 (16 GB) and $699 (32 GB).

Remember, no commitment phones are still locked to at&t, so you need to get them unlocked for usage in India.

Another option is to buy locally from private sellers on Craigslist.com where it comes for lesser price.

Any idea if AT&T would unlock the phone here if you tell them that you are moving back to India. I had them unlock the old phones, but not sure if they would do it for a recently purchased phone.

Depending on the firmware version, unlocking the Iphone is not that difficult. Upto version 3.1.2 is easily unlocked for free.

AT&T wont unlock iphone. I already tried, and they unlocked my wife's Samsung but refused to unlock my iphone.

Unlocking iphone is pretty easy. Just google, you will get lot of resources.

I wouldn't pay anybody any money for unlocking. It is available free of cost and very easy to do. People who charge money are taking advantage of people who don't know that there are only 1 or 2 sources for unlocking. They don't have anything on their own but use the same programs that are available free of cost, and charge you money for it.

Have to exercise caution when doing this. There are plenty of places scamming people. There are only 1 or 2 known sources which provide the unlocking programs, and they are free of charge.
