Since you can fly from Houston, I highly recommend Emirates. I recently traveled by Delta and it really sucks.
Emirates has excellent IFE system, USB port to plug your own USB media, power point to work on laptop, excellent food & service.

Any ideas for one way fare to Hyderabad.

we can fly from atlanta, washington dc, charlotte, virginia and any other nearest airports that can be driven 6-8hrs.

Will that help to get better one way prices?

OUr issue is we dont know the exact dates we leave as we are dependent on US citizenship interview\oath dates.

After June 5th it gets more expensive.. Before June 5th, you should be able to get off-season price. Your best bet may be still Air-India when it comes to price. And they fly from DC now (via new york of course)

We are planning a trip in end of June (after 20th) from SFO to Chennai, but going thru Europe for a short trip (7 days), we are family of four with 7 and 4 kids..anyone interested to join as a family?
I got two quotes from my travel agency
lufthansa - 2000
Jet Airways - 1895

With Jetairways, I have to go to New york first before going to brussels and Chennai.

Is this price because you are taking a break or fly through Europe is always expensive? It seems high compared to around $1500 quoted by Cathay Pacific if you fly via pacific.

The fare is high through Europe because it's summer and it's a peak season for air fares going though Europe. There is no penalty for the stop over period. You are right, in Cathay, it came to $1495 for adult, but we wanted to take a tour in Europe (London,paris,frankfurt/rome) for a week.

Finally, I booked tickets for our July return trip to Bangalore from Houston. I got a price of $1,450 through Qatar airlines. For my 9 yr old son the price is $1,180.

When I tried Qatar website I got a price of around $1,850, but my agent was able to get a price of $1,450 which I think is very good price for peak season.
After reading about Qatar airlines I am confident it is a good airline.

I will appreciate any updates on Qatar airline service experience.
