The topic is if your home town also picks up in IT or whatever industry you are in would you move to your home town or continue to live in BLR post R2I ?. I'm born and raised in BLR and have 99% of my family and my wife's family along with my extended family are in BLR . Thus moving to BLR for me is an obvious choice. Recently I was contacted by a recruiter who said an HYD based employer liked my job profile and willing to pay handsomely if selected as my skills matched 100% to what they are looking for. I politely declined because the job location is not going to be BLR. But for many they may move to BLR only for job opportunities. I have nothing against HYD , nothing against people of HYD or anthing negative about HYD. Infact HYD is one of my places to visit post R2I.Perhaps HYD may have better infrastructure and traffic management than BLR. I thought to myself there are millions(?) of non-Kannadiga people living in BLR and feeling at home even though they can't speak a word in Kannada or care to learn Kannada ( one of the gripes of Vatal Nagaraj! ). I don't know if its because of super-tolerance shown by accommodative Kannadigas or what. .To me I guess its all about convenience. Its easy for me to talk in Kannada to people like drivers/maids/barbers/bankers/rickshaw wallahs and all the people that you deal in day-to-day life than learning a new language like Telugu/Tamil/Hindi although BLR has been estimated to have only 33% Kannadigas left. As a Kannadiga I never gave special treatment to Kannadigas when I was in India or in US. In fact in my US friends network there are people from all over India. I think in India to get the job done quickly or to get a good deal its good to go via "contacts". I don't think I will be able to live in say Pune or CBE or Vishakapatnam without a good established social network. I'm too old to learn a new language :( One of my friends originally from BLR working in the auto industry in USA is not ready to move back to India because there are very limited opportunities for him in BLR but plenty of job openings in Pune! I have another friend who is from HYD for whom BLR is his first choice.
The intention of this post is not to judge anyone or divide on linguistic basis but to get various view points from non-Kannada people living in BLR or any city which is not their home town post R2I! I do understand and respect that India is one country and any resident of India can live in part of India as per his/her choice.

Yes, BengaLuru is super cool for almost everyone. No doubt about that. Just look at the migration pattern into the city. As long as more Cauvery water keeps coming to the city to feed the millions who flock to the city each year, there wouldn't be anything else that can slow down the growth.
For your case, trying out Hyderabad is not such a bad idea. I am speaking from first hand experience. Hyderabad is also a super cool city. I am associated with it on and off for over 6 years now. Language is never a problem either with Telugus or Urdus. Rents are much cheaper compared to Bluru. Only heat is a huge problem between mid-March and mid-June. If you are a true bread KannaDiga from BengaLuru, you will find it very hard when temperatures hit over 40. My family got squeezed to the last drop when temperatures hit 44'C, even with two top brand A/Cs running full throttle. The only other downside I see of Hyd is job market. The opportunities are hardly 30% of Bengaluru, so changing jobs will be a challenge.
Other than those two - food, traffic, friendly people, crossing language barrier, ease of links to other metros, fitness consciousness, entertainment, shopping etc. make Hyderabad a very good choice for a KannaDa family. Add to it your ability to read most of Telugu alphabets by default which would ensure you don't get lost on streets even in distant suburbs or nearby towns.
It is worth trying Hyd for sure.

OP, I believe that R2I can be best enjoyed if you are returning to the place where one grew up. Hence,my vote would be for Blore. OTOH, It is also not a bad idea to R2I to a different city, if you feel out place you can always go back to Blore. One of the biggest complaints(hearsay) after R2I is lack of privacy. Maybe you will overcome that if you are in a different city.

Ah 80s and 90s of BLR can only be seen in parts in movies now. I was watching "Nodi Swami naav irodhu heege" and the title song has a good coverage of BLR in late 80s.

OP, given that all your folks from either side are residing in BLR, i think HYD will make a good choice just to balance the "staying close to my parents vs your parents" as well as staying away from the invasion of privacy. As regarding the hot summers in HYD, i see you are located in Texas and if you have survived the heat here, HYD should not be too difficult.
