Traverse City in north MI. It is an island with lake Michigan and lake superior surrounding it. The best part is that any motorized vehicle is not allowed here and bicycle and horse carriages are the only mode of transportation. It is a good change from usual city hustle bustle.
season- always cold and windy.

Its 'Mackinac Island' not Traverse City. Been there and its real beautiful in the summer. The drive up-north from Detroit in Fall is colorful.
Good vacation spots in the US
Most of us who live in the US have taken vacation across america, i wanna know from you, which is your favorite vacation spot in the US and why??? My spouse and I love travelling and have taken several vacations across the country over the years, i would love to hear about vacation experiences of folks here.
I'll start, it's close but the winner is Colorado...we didn't really vacation there, we stayed there for a while, but it is my favorite place in the US...simply loveddd the rockies..., especially memorable, were the durango-silverton train ride, skiing at aspen, and the million dollar highway driving from durango to montrose CO....

Good vacation spots in the US
No replies so far.
I was hoping to get some info from this thread.
We've done the touristy locations mostly in the US (east/west cost/vegas/la/sa fran/orlando/miama etc etc). Mostly we try to get out of the US on our vacations.....coz I don't know where else to go.
My idea of a fun vacation is a cruise...or all inclusive. Pay once - eat, drink. relax and soak up the sun :))
I am trying to find some interesting places in the US coz flying with a little one for 4-8 hrs for a vacations doesn't seem fun these days. Any tips on how to spend a few days in Colorado ?
