Hi,

You should be able to get the converter in any electrical store near by. Make sure you buy a converter based on power rating that your electronic stuff demands. For example, computers need 110v, 10a and you need a converter that delivers 1000watts (approximately 110*10). Check the amp rating on your electronic to determine the power requirement.

Hi Balaji,

I am in a similar position as the OP..I need 2-3 such transformers for electronic items that I shipped from US to B'lore. One is needed for my (LCD + Wii + DVD). Another for (spice grinder + other kitchen eqpt) and a third for other miscellaneous electrnics.

Now, to decided what rating to buy, as per you instructions, if I need sufficient juice to run my 3 eqpts at a time then I need

kVA (transformer) > or + kVA(LCD) + kVA(Wii) + kVA(DVD). Am I right?

My other dumb questions is:
if I switch on ONLY the TV, then will the output from the transformer fry the TV as kVA (transformer) > kVA (LCD only)

Or is it that the TV will only draw the wattage it needs from the stepdown when on?

Please let me know. I'll also PM you the same Q

Universal Transformers on SP Road is the best place to buy the step downs in Bangalore. it is on the first floor, on the right hand side about 250m after you enter SP Road. I have bought at least 5 transformers from them a year ago and have no complaints till now.

I second that. Also if you call them, they deliver (for some delivery charge).
