Address proof card issued by India Post ( Bhaaratiy Daak )

Many working people often shift their houses.
For them, it is difficult to produce an address proof issued by Government with latest address.

Our India Post (Post Office) has come up with a solution.
Now you can get an address proof along with your photo from India post. Since the ID proof is issued by India post which is a Central Government
organization,
it is similar to other ID cards like Driving license, Voters ID etc.
It can be used for opening bank accounts, for getting telephone and gas connections etc.

The total cost for getting this ID card is Rs.250/ (Rs.10 for application and Rs.240/- processing fee).

Do inform everybody. This is very useful.

For more details enquire in the nearest post office.

The post office issued identity will be helpful, indeed.

To forum people, for an OCI on landing to India, what are the immediate steps need to be taken to ensure the proof of address or identity?

I applied at the Post Office in Chennai. We have USC and PIO. They Post Office guy claims that it is for Indian nationals only, and not for USC. Does anyone know if that is true? Has any USC obtained the address proof through Post Office?

Why would Post office be concerned about nationality of the applicant. As the form rightly says it is for address proof .May be wejust apply and dont dicslose the nationality itself !!!
Also I dont see in any field inside that form asking for applicants nationality ?

Generally they do not accept PAN card as address proof. They do accept it as identity card.
Received letter ??????
I doubt it very much.
