Indian Beaten to Death in NJ

This is a sad news, day before yesterday my uncle?s acquaintance was walking outside of his home after dinner with his two son 12 & 16. Suddenly few teenage white & black kids came into car, and start beating all 3 with base ball bat. They beat father badly while kid took less injury. After teenage boys vanish injured son ran to his neighbor?s home to call 911. Father walked few steps and finally collapse. They rushed him to hospital and once he reached to hospital he went into Coma. First police did not give much attention, but now they came to know from doctor that because of sever impact of baseball bat on his head he cannot come out of coma.

One boy recognized one kid because he was from his own school and same class! Police has now arrested all 5 attackers. Unfortunately doctor has told family that he cannot come out of coma and now they are waiting for guy?s mother to visit from India, before they take him out of life support.

This incident happened on Friday night in Old bridge town, which is relatively peaceful town. No one knows it was racial attack or it was just isolated incident.

Unfortunately looks like its not possible. My uncle visited hospital and spoke to doctor. According to doctor this case is over.

I did not realize that there is so much hatred in NJ. Hope things work out.

Infact this week i saw an article from the Times Columnist Joel Stein about immigrant Indians in Edison, NJ titled 'My own private India'.

That is absolutely shocking to read that article in a magazine like Time - its distasteful and even racist. I know its a special issue on Edison - the scientist and if the author's intent is to just explore why so many people of indian origin settle in Edison and surrounding areas and its possible impact - its fine - but the tone of the whole article is offensive to the say least. Though author made some half-hearted positive noises at the end - the article as a whole is quite offensive. I vent my thoughts immediately to the editor, hope more people would do that.
