Desperate for US Citizenship?

Post by sriniV »

I have been thinking of posting this for the past many days now, as it is Friday and I have free time I am posting this.
Couple of people I know who work for Xyz came to US on a 3 and 4 month project respectively. Their respective pregnant wives accompanied with them.
Two months after they arrived they delivered babies. As they came here on a short trip they couldn't get either of their parents due to cost etc.

I still keep wondering why one has to do this. Is it just to get their kid US citizenship or I don't know what?
I am sure both of them or not on some critical projects.

Before some of the members start assuming things and post stinkers, let me clarify few things:
1. I am not jealous of those people. Its their headache.
2. I am just curious to know why one will do something like this

Thanks

Desperate for US Citizenship?

Well cause a USC has far more avenues open to him vs a INC...a USC life has more value vs an INC....etc etc
having said that i have been in US for 8 years and with kids on the way I am trying to find a way to make sure we are in India for the delivery so that they get INC :)..maybe my kids will scream at me 20 years down the line for doing that!:)

We can't speak for those guys as to why they decided to have their children born in US.

But in general, USC is considered a prestigious symbol in India even now despite all the problems US is facing and future prospects don't look that great here. Many might be interested in getting USC as that would make it easier for the Children to come here for higher studies etc. as the law could change making immigration to this Country much harder down the road. Another possibility being USC can guarantee certain benefits (like medical, SS and Unemployment etc) that mayn't be available to non-USC folks.

Again, we wouldn't know what their reasons for having a child here but these are some of the things I can think of that might have lead them to this decision.

Its vice versa for me. I am living in US for more than 12 years, but my wife travelled to India for delivery. The top notch personal care you receive in India is priceless.

Interesting thing is the timing is so perfect. Their 3 - 4 month project comes up just as they are about to have a baby in 2 months or so.

But yes, looking at a common banda in India, if given a chance, ppl will jump at the opportunity of flying to US of A, let alone becoming a parent of citizen.

There are millions of people in india who are desparate to leave india and settle in the west.
I have seen a couple in mid 40s uprooting their family with grown up kids to do an average salary job in UK.
Why would anyone do that at the age when you need a good social support.
In some universities in punjab lots of professors left for canada or australia and do menial jobs over there.
