Ha ha- got here first!
My mum's family used to have this isolation business, but its all forgotten with our generation anyway.
If we were invited somewhere and it suddenly became 'inconvenient', I would probably look at the source of invitation and decide. Certain places, it might become a 'convenient' excuse, certain places I would 'not tell'!
Personally, dont believe in it anymore as I feel the custom has outlived its initial practical utility. Iam not a regular every friday type temple goer, but do go occasionally and probably would avoid at that time for reasons of mental conditioning. However, have never mentioned all this to DD yet, lets see if the occasion arises where her appearance might be misconstrued, Ill have to have that conversation with her- she will ask lots of awkward questions, though!

Heh heh, thanks for starting off thread and continuing this pertinent topic : )

My DD would also have lots of questions were the occasion to arise. I can imagine her quizzing the person opposite her, evaluating each response and expressing a dissatisfaction with the reasoning provided with a gentle shake of her head and ponytail. : )

I too have used it occasionally as 'convenient' excuse : )

Yes, its me :30: . What Colors? I think there is a channel by that name in CA bay area! : )

Rahul Bose Mon-Thu and I cannot watch it, awwww my luck is bad :(
